5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Good to hear from you, SuffolkSue.
Pleasures for today (Friday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Did the charity shops in carpet town but found nothing. It was never a very glamourous town but the pandemic has meant even half the charity shops have closed. You can still see Woolworths, Littlewoods, Adams kids clothes, Edinburgh Woollen Mill etc that have had nothing done to them and have remained empty since they went bust.
Anyway, after that walk round, I had my second coronavirus vaccination! Not feeling tip top now, but a lot better than I did after the last one.
3) Popped to Sainsburys to get ingredients as smaller son wants to make the meal he made at college yesterday.
4) Went to get hen food from other town and looked in the single charity shop there. It often delivers and today it had a pair of brand new socks for smaller son with the London Underground map on them. £1.30 and he loves them and is wearing them now!
5) Planted out my parsley plants and 1 new thyme plant from Sainsburys.
6) Got on top of the housework in case I got more ill as time went on so washing done and dried on the line etc.
7) We had fish and chips for tea, plus fried halloumi.
8) Enjoyed watching Gogglebox.11 -
1. Enjoyed putting things in my new cupboards. Progress is slow as trying to be organised and only putting things we need away and all the non essentials are being thrown away.
2. A vase filled with daffodils on a cupboard in the hallway. It fills the shelf which would otherwise be a dumping ground for DH watch, keys and loose change.
3. Saw my parents. They came round as I checked my Dad's eyes. It was good seeing and chatting with them.
4. Enjoying the sun in the garden. DH cut the grass - I do like the smell.
5. Sea bass for tea which was tasty.10 -
My heart was aching yesterday. Tiggy's eyesight is almost non-existant, she barely sees anything. Bumps into most things. Have decided to buy her a harness because when we're on a walk I sometimes forget to look for the next danger 'thing'. Having a harness might improve my leading her. Her eyes remain clear and I have stopped the Visco Tears as it seemed to make them worse. Continue to make sure that she gets the best foodstuffs, just cooked her chicken and veg. The pleasure is just having her. Even with the heartache. Might have to rethink my plan of one day taking on older dogs with medical conditions. I fall in love too easily.
Bought some zip-locky bags yesterday ((supermarket own) as am experimenting on freezing things in 'containers' that can be re-used. So tired of throwing things away even if they can be recycled (foil). So far so good.
Am going back to my parents today. Unexpected request for a specific unexpected reason. Only staying a day (sorry Carol, would love to meet). trying to get jobs done and just for once it not all being a rush.
Final pleasure, sitting down, writing this, drinking a lovely cup of tea.

Morning all - another bright sunny day here.
Good to hear from you all
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Got my eyebrows back - after a trip to the waxing, tinting shop.
2. A walk into town - twice!
3. A walk in the local arboretum with a friend and little dog. Coffee bar was open and it was so lovely to sit and chat over a cappucino.
4. I also filled the bird feeders and, yes, it is always a pleasure
5. More fish for tea - I am trying to eat very little meat and, so far, have succeeded in cutting down to one or two portions a week.
6. Finished Keeping Faith
7. Family film night - Fish Tank. Gritty but compelling.
Have a lovely day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
Good to hear from you SSue and that you received decent service when you needed it, take care x
A harness sounds a fab idea Bala.
For yesterday,
Another bright, but frosty start, bed changed and out on the line by 9am, followed by yard jackets.
Friday clean, can be tedious at times but popped Northern Soul radio on which helps.
Mooch around the fields with equine girlie, no fast work as ground rock hard with no decent rain for months. She showed her general displeasure at that by doing mad, bucking zoomies around her paddock when I put her back out. Love my girl’s spirit.
Sat on the swing seat in the warm sunshine and shared a caramel slice with Capt S.
Friday so fish for tea, with chips and peas obviously.11 -
Thanks Lainey, it is so warming to be encouraged.
I think we will both feel more secure and a little more confident with a harness. I now realise that her ambling (instead of determined walk) is due to her poor eyesight and not arthur-whotsit (can never spell that).

Oh my! Another beautiful day. I'm sure I was really meant to be born in a bright sunny country. It's almost never too hot for me and I hate grey dull days.
I've cleaned the inside of the car. Not before time!
I've started to sort out the block paved drive. I put down weedkiller/ cleaner before we went away and now I'm brushing out the cracks with a special brush. It's time consuming but satisfying as you can see where you've been. I can only do so much though before my back starts complaining.
Making a Jamaican style curry for tea. It's one of those packages that has separate little packs of herbs, spices etc. I felt like a change from our usual curry.
My friend has just told me she starts the first of the overseas marking on Thursday. I'm so glad I retired, especially in weather like this.
Happy beautiful day everyone

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) 2 loads of washing done.
3) Hens OK.
4) Seemed to do lots of cooking today! Made scones and brownies, cooked rhubarb off the allotment (will have with yoghurt for breakfast). Smaller son cooked the pasta dish he made at college the other day.
5) Watched Casualty.
The piano is going in the morning, It will not be nice to say goodbye after 23 years but we will really appreciate the space when it has gone. It has not had the care and playing it has deserved in recent years. As though to seal the deal, my bad shoulder has been ridiculously bad today including part of my arm going numb so the arthritis is (obviously) never going to improve to the point where I could practise again.12 -
Happycas I too live in the wrong climate. Warm and sunny weather and I'm at my happiest.
1. Spoke with a friend on the phone- hadn't spoken with her for a while and we arranged to meet.
2. DS2 called in for some cheese which DH had bought him.
Watched the rugby with him. Not quite sure how we managed to win.
He was hungry so raided the fridge. He is going to be a best man next summer.
3. Tidied up part of garden behind the shed. Hopefully will be able to keep it tidier than in previous years - probably not hard to do.
4. Went shopping for curtains and came home with curtain poles etc and with no curtains.
5. Had planned for going out by making sure had pizza for tea so no take away needed.11
