Thank you all for the messages, it really means a lot.

Pleasures, because they must be found

    1. Walking out of the hospital was dreadful. Leaving him there. But four of us siblings went and had breakfast in spoons. He would have liked that
    2. The journey home happened. It was awful, because all I wanted to do was howl. But I made it home and slept a little while
    3. My younger brother telling me he loved me. We are undemonstrative as a family so it meant a lot
    4. The lovely, kind messages on these boards and on Facebook. And texts
    5. Being able to cry. I don't cry easily and sometimes the strain of that is awful.

We have much snow, so a quiet day at home planned involving putting up the tree and watching a film.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Hello all

my dad passed away this morning - we had the 'come now' phone call yesterday afternoon and, despite much motorway traffic, made it down in a few hours. we were told it could be hours - or days!! two of my brothers and I did an all night vigil whilst the day shift slept. but he passed before the day shift got back.

the pleasures are that, he must have had the cancer for a long time and has only been troubled by it in the last couple of weeks and only known for 2 days.
He did not linger and passed peacefully - which is what he would have wanted
My sister and i had a wonderful visit with him on Thursday, where he was bright and cheery and acting the goat

I am rather devastated, he could be very difficult but looked so frail lying there.... it is the end of an era and things will never quite be the same again..

Sorry to read that.:( ((Hugs)) xx

    2. After a bit of a panic last night I phoned my car insurer who confirmed my details on their records are correct and the paperwork they have sent me is not. So relieved as I had convinced myself they would cancel my insurance

    3. Got a further discount on car insurance and renewed as current provider were cheapest. So glad that's over for another year, I find it so stressful. :o

    4. All food from stores this weekend, managed to resist takeaways. I am making chicken casserole for dinner with some rtc chicken thighs 69p

    5. am scoffing snow bites (oops bought for DS Christmas stocking :rotfl: ) thankfully they are the only snow we will probably have around here.

  • Move over, and Frith. It vis PORAGE. Have you no seen the Scott's packets inn the emporiums. Enough!

5 Was out inn town this morning. Fine light dusting of slush. At petrol place, they were queueing up to not enter, I just spun the wheels of BoP and filled. Then as it was quite difficult for others, the emporium w8rs was empty. Punters were missing, so got me job lot in double quick time. savings with spit I had last week. £24 off down to £43.

4 Dinner this evening BoP is serving up Fish and Chips. Salomon with spuds really and peas and homemade Parley sauce. served with prawns and fresh salad. More later. Vegetable soup is also warming!

3 Got new box for Internet thing set up for tomorrow.

" Raffles is in his basket, or rather BoPsie's wardrobe. BoPsie has earache today so please be quiet! No I have had it for thirty bloody years!

Same time tomorrow and we will do it again!
  • 1) Ski socks....bought half price in a sale and was able to wear my long boots for the first time without coming home with my socks wrinkled up in a heap by my toes! warm feet = bliss!

    2) Thermal undies.....enough information in those two words!

    3) All the travellers now arrived at home destinations after various dramas, delays and in one case a long walk because there were no taxis and the bus stopped half way to it's destination and could go no further. Mumsie can stop worrying now.

    4) Bumped into my little brother when I went for a walk this afternoon, had a nice chat and put the world to rights.

    5) Rugby 7s been on TV all day, fab stuff as it's in Capetown and they've had brilliant sunshine and blue skies, much nicer to look at than rain and grey coulds!

Old Style pleasure, this is the Old Style moneysaving board.
In reality, it's anything that makes you happy, but with a focus on gratitude for the things that really matter in life.
And you can apply your own definition to that.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Hello, a very chilly Sunday evening . It's currently -6o ...not something I've ever written here I think!

It's been a nice weekend , yesterday crazy, today less so!

I'd organised a surprise party as a belated 21st for DD1, ended up telling her brother and sister as I needed help with the subterfuge. The plot was we were going out for dinner but a set of friends would arrive just before we were due to leave and we would be delayed and then everyone started arriving and BOO! Surprise! She took it well although had her mouth shaped for her dinner!

I had to wake everyone up half an hour before. All was quiet and calm as they were so jetlagged! Wee souls! OH's sisters came which they hadn't known about so that was nice for them. Nice to catch up with friends I hadn't already seen.

Nice food. Had a RTC ham, made tiny roast potatoes and cranberry sauce (RTC c'berries), salad, quiche, some pakora, sausage rolls. Cupcakes made by DD2, meringues...no mince pies in sight!

Did most of tidying up last night which was much better to face this morning.

Went to church with DD2 this morning which was nice.

Some lovely RTc flowers from M&S .

Had an @rse of a driver tailgate me all the way home, I thought I was towing him, I had to slow down as cars pulled in, in front of me and then someone ran across the road in front of me. Then he overtook me where he really shouldn't have , roared ahead. I tooted , he braked and slowed right down to 14mph , looking in his rear view mirror at me....I just thought what an absolute plonker and pulled in ! I was not about to play his stupid games....I may have wished a slow puncture on him!

    Snoozed!

Friend popped in with her dog ( one of H's ladies) so that was nice to chat.

Tea was a mix of party leftovers.

Vjsmum know that I'm thinking of you x

    1. DD and I had fun in the snow this morning :) We made a snow koala/elephant.....!!

    2. My thermal leggings and top - I was nice and snuggly :)

    3. NSD and NPD - no way was I going to go out today!

    4. A warm home

    5. The internet and WhatsApp for keeping in touch with KW whilst he was working

    6. The likelihood of a snow day tomorrow - both my village and my school's village are predicted snow until 2pm, and I don't think driving 2 miles up a steep hill on a nearly single track road will be recommended for any of us!! (But, we're not officially closed yet....)
