A funny sort of day.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK but getting very wet underfoot in their pen. (They do have a big sleeping part raised off the ground and a paved "conservatory" but it's muddy for me to walk around the pen).
3) Took my brother a large courgette for him to carve for Halloween.
4) Popped in to see my sister and had some cheese (!)
5) Dropped some bits off at the charity shop.
6) We went to the local garden centre to look at their Christmas display.
7) Cooked a roast dinner then an apple cake.
8) Watched GBBO.
Another tense visit to my parents' this morning. My sister will not be visiting again and I really do not know what to do. I can't imagine how it would feel if my sons wouldn't visit me and yet the visit was so weird and stressful that I actually felt in a dissociative state, torn between nodding and smiling nicely and running back to the car. Dad wouldn't come out at all (we've not been into the house since March). Mum said he and my brother have been shouting and swearing at each other since 8am, which is unlikely, as I've never heard my dad raise his voice, which means my brother's behaviour is as bad as ever. Their dog is becoming so neurotic she's impossible to deal with so they hit her with a stick all the time. As in every 30 seconds. Their suggestion today was that I stroke her through the gate (which makes her jump up), then every time she jumped up, they could hit her with the stick. I said no to that idea. It is like being in a weird dream. It took my sister a long time to see it (to be fair, it took me 35 years) but at least now I can say what goes on and say, "That's not right, is it?" and we can agree on that.12 -
Frith am so sorry for all of it. Truly.
But you must get that dog away from them. This is very cruel behaviour and no-one or nothing deserves that. Please.AKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo

Good morning,
Yesterday
1. Met a friend for lunch......a pub with a seating area in a glass box. So we were able to sit outside and watch the rain! Food was lovely.
2. Visited a couple of charity shops, and found a nice dress for £5.
3. Defrosted chilli for tea.
4. Started to clean the fronts of the kitchen cupboards with the Karcher window cleaner. Good toy!5. Watched the first episode of Roadkill, but fell asleep for the whole of episode 2!Have a lovely day 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)
We have more in common than that which divides us. (Jo Cox)14 -
1. Another day at work survived. Half way through my week.
2. New recipe for tea. It was a Nigel Slater one and it was good and used to some of my green tomatoes from the garden.
3. Watched GBBO.
4. Read some more of Christmas chronicles. When I read it I can hear his voice narrating it.
5. A letter written so it's now done.13 -
Frith please rescue the dog ( if necessary ring the RSPA anonymously)
I cant stop thinking about it .10 -
Oh Frith
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Teaching was.. OK for the most part. Need to work out how to engage them more in seminars
2. nice home made carrot and coriander soup for lunch.
3. nice homemade veggie curry for dinner followed by crumble.
4. More ancestry - part of my family came from London. Generation upon generation lived around central london both sides of the river - so i'm going to plan a walking route around the various places and OH and I are (hopefully) going down to tour them all next week. Hopefully because we're about to go into Tier 2 ..
5. banked.
Have a day off - my only day off this week. Not sure what to do with it.. Everyone else is busy so it's to be spent alone (which i am ok with) - just need to avoid housework. Have a nice day everyone.I wanna be in the room where it happens12 -
What a difficult situation all round Frith but that poor dog is an innocent caught in the middle of all that aggression, not good.
For yesterday,
Busy morning getting chores done, went out to the Post Office with a parcel to send and we had a joke about my glasses steaming up with my mask. I have tried everything, washing up liquid, the lot, any fellow glasses wearers have tips?
Also popped to the feed store for girlie’s chaff etc and had a good horsey chat with my pal who works there.
Wet weather all day, did spend some time in the shed for a while sorting out my seed packets and something cosy about rain hitting the roof.
Watched the penultimate GW on catch up, you know the year is winding down when that finishes.
Hot mackerel and stir fry veg for tea.13 -
Another one wading in here, Frith. Your parents and brother are adults, but that dog is an innocent. Can you adopt it? If not, I second contacting the RSPCA for advice. No doubt that would cause big trouble but needs must, that animal is suffering. One life - your life - live it!15
