Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in.
2) Got all jobs done this morning.
3) Hen crumb food arrived by courier, just in the nick of time before we collect the new hens tomorrow. (They can't eat anything else for a week or two, as that is the only food they have ever seen).
4) Sons' friends' mum (2 sons that are friends with my 2 sons!) delivered hand made masks.
5) Very helpful professional person letter arrived to add to the pile of evidence to sort smaller son's education out.
6) Part baked rolls for lunch, sausage casserole for tea, plus made brownies.
7) Bigger son arrived back from his mammoth bike packing/climbing exhibition. If anyone knows how to get drone film off a laptop onto an iphone for editing, please let us know! He is a bit sad about the job situation as he really loved his job and anything else will be a disappointment. He can't find similar work at the moment (pupils' residential outdoor centre).
8) Watched Casualty.
9) Bigger son's friends invited him out (including son of mask making lady) and they rigged up a tarpaulin in the forest and sat in hammocks underneath.
15 hours until new hens! There will be 4 - all possible names on a postcard.

1 It’s still a full house of animals.
2 DH and I had to do some impromptu gardening after an animal came in wet from digging, we found a drain was leaking our Rosemary bush had to be cut back, together with the lavender, que a lot of dehydrating over last night and jarring up today.
3 A lovely chop with pasta and veg.
4 So many butterflies around.
5 Beautiful sunshine has been nice.

For yesterday - quickly typing before leccy goes off on planned outage.
A lie-in followed by boiled egg and marmite soldiers.
Driving to the yard and saw the first harvest of the year coming in, big old combine kicking up the dust. Lughnasadh is on its way.
Spent a while with girlie in field, also picked the meadowsweet for drying.
A warm afternoon at home, pottered in the garden but a nap also may have been involved at some point.
Chinese for tea, easy on the cook this week.

Early morning walk with Tiggy. She was struggling a little yesterday. It's so muggy here.
Crows in full force this morning. One eating/stripping a feather on the fence (?)
Feeling a bit low today. Don't know why. Trying to do my mental gratitude list. Normally works.

Pleasures yesterday....
Son's birthday (22). A quiet day, his presents from me were clothes and books, which he was delighted with. I will miss him when he eventually goes back to work in London, he has been such good company.
Birthday cake I had made for him turned out well, I am usually hit and miss with cakes. Sponge, delicately flavoured with vanilla and a hint of almond, strawberry conserve and buttercream filling, buttercream and rainbow sprinkles on top.
He asked for Korean fried chicken for his birthday lunch so I found a recipe and did it. Success! I must be due some culinary disasters soon.
On the spur of the moment I gathered more lavender from the garden and started another batch of lavender oil. I now have two small batches of lavender and one of rosemary.
Sun finally emerged from clouds late yesterday so I had a few minutes on the sun lounger in the garden. Just listening to birds, hardly any neighbourhood human noise.
Noting on the dog walk how many blackberry fruits there are. A few weeks yet before they will be ripe, but a promising harvest ahead. Which is more than I can say for the little plum tree in the garden. In the four years I have had it there have been about five plums total. A complete disgrace of a plant.
Fresh clean linen on the bed last night, always a pleasure. One life - your life - live it!13
