Well done VJSMUM hope there was a large G&T involved in the celebration.
For yesterday,
Woke up early but feeling decidedly meh so stayed in bed reading.
It rained, a lot, but the garden needed it for sure and laughed to see a big old crow having a bath in large puddle.
Made a pepper and chilli bean soup for lunch, might have gone a bit heavy on the chilli but it was very warming.
Got soaked at the yard and very cold by the time I got home, warmed up with a cup of tea and slice of V sponge.
Realised no bread in bin ( consequence of beloved WFH ) so made quick batch of rye and sunflower soda bread.
Funny how food has taken on such importance in these strange days!15 -

well done, VJsmum! What happens now?
Re the PhD - it will get read by an internal and external examiner. I have a mock Viva (oral examination) in late May and a real one in June... then there's likely to be corrections of some degree or other... I've a little way to go yet, but getting to this point is a marvel!
Thanks all...I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
Good morning all,
well done VJsmum
Pleasures for yesterday....
Walk along the prom first thing, it was very quiet because it wasn't sunny
Rain number 1 - the garden needed it
Rain number 2 - I Treated myself and tumble dried the washing that I did. Meant i could put it away instead of having it hanging round the house
Ordered the stuff for the fence to be fixed. A dubious pleasure as it will cost a fortune and it isn't up to me to fix it but I'm fed up looking at the 3 foot high grass and weeds in their garden. It'll be worth it when it's done but I'm still fuming about it.
Some more crochet before bed time
Take care all of you14 -
Well done, vjsmum. Must be a weight off your mind, and you can relax for a little while.
Not much happening but it seems some things are beginning to move forward a little
Hospital rang DH to do a pre-op questionnaire re the op he is on the waiting list for. Won't be happening for a while, but at least it's a start.
Garage rang re car service booked, then postponed by them. However, as they can't offer a courtesy car or any where to wait, and the garage is in the middle of nowhere, it will have to wait a while longer. Probably only done about 100 miles this month anyway, if that!
Garden centre now doing a drive through service. You ring to order and pay, they give you a time slot, then you collect from car park. Seems to work well.
Meanwhile, I'm still making headbands. Running out of buttons though, and ordered ones are going to take a fortnight. Oh well, will keep going until I run out.
Happy today everyone

good news VJsmum now try and take some time to relax.
Pleasures for today, hard to think of many but I have been really busy so work time passed by quickly, had a nice dinner and now just relaxing with coffee and cake.

Well done Vjsmum.
Both DH and I are feeling the shut in somewhat today, we had been fine so far but today has left us feeling it's all a bit much, we’ll get over it, a good nights sleep would be a good start. Althou having just seen the latest UK statistics that may be a way off.
1 I might have forgotten to get dinner from the freezer-again, so tonight was corned beef hash as it’s the only ops I forgot again meal left, versus fish or a pasta bake. It’s been an age since I’ve made it rather looking forward to it and it was nice. I have got something out now, I’ll know what when it defrosts.
2 I followed an mse link the other day and ordered a one off gardeners magazine, with seed packets which arrived today. The local plant order also turned up today, they are amazingly good quality, I am really impressed, they are currently sitting outside waiting for better weather before I take a photo and then plant up.
3 DH baked his second ever loaf of bread, the first was well it turned into 8 pizza bases, this time there was shop bought yeast and the food processor doing the kneading, hot fresh bread was delicious.
Saving 4 and 5.

1. There are way more than 5 os laughs in this, which I'm hearing for the 2nd time today 😂
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_four_extra
2. Yesterday was essentially a wet, chilly, cba, rain butts filled, reading and listening snuggling sortakinda day. Lovely!
3. Cake! Made! Tasted! Yum!
2 deliberately-kept tired bananas+some h-m candied orange peel in some mild replica of old NZ Edmonds recipe.
I'm going to have another slice after this :-)))....and I don't care!
4. Big clearance work before and during more rain today. Hauled and trimmed and barrowed away ALL the week's branchy stuff, weeding, more ivy jungle. 2 giant heaps sneaked out and away through back, distributed along farmland boundary. It's fine. Props and pea sticks produced from cut down things. Planted unknown corms. Purple and Chantenay carrot seeds are sprouting.
5. Young LP gent had treasured vintage Raleigh bike stolen 2 nights ago. Needs it to visit beloved, still in hospital, 7 weeks after major surgery. Kind soul donated a replacement quickly. Lovely bike man sorted tyres. Rang him this morning to sort good lights. Chosen ones also serve as good torches - and fitting was included :-). Everyone benefits.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) A lie in.
2) Went to Sainsburys! Well, the Click and Collect area, between their central heating plant and the canal. Lots of substitutions. I ordered 1 bag of Sainsburys own rice of 4 or 5kg. They substituted it for 5kg of posh rice - but wheeled out 4 bags! I did say immediately, but they can't take it back. So I now have 20kg of rice, which should last a year.
3) Bigger son did an "Escape Room" for us, which was really good, with code breaking etc. I am working on one for tomorrow.
4) Tasty tea of chicken chow mein.
5) Really enjoyed the Great British Sewing Bee.

1. Enjoyed my walk round the hospital first thing even in the rain.

3. Both sons have paid increased rent- hopefully will be able to return it when this is all over.
4. Chat with neighbours - they had arrived home from their dog walk when I returned home from work.
5. Watched an episode of Vera. I enjoyed it.
6. DS1 is having online poker night with friends on Monday - he has to learn how to play first!!13
