5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Funny sort of day today. A lot of sad news coming from all angles.
1) A lie in.
2) Hen not well. Allotment looking fine.
3) Bigger son carved another apple wood spoon.
4) Enjoyed sorting out the new to me Belfast sinks. They contained huge clumps of apple mint, thyme and variegated lemon balm. Separated those into many smaller plants. New compost and they now contain sensible amounts of the above plus parsley and rosemary.
5) Popped to see mum and dad (stood on their long driveway) and was slightly terrified to hear dad had had to have his warfarin test. He said the nurse appeared in full gear and he just had to hang his arm out of the car window! The likelihood of his surviving Coronavirus is about nil so he had isolated for a week before the actual isolation began. Gave them some of the separated herbs.
6) Uphill x 2 neighbour has put a box of books out with a "free" sign so I put all the mint, thyme and lemon balm plants with it. I also dig up and pot self seeded trees from the garden so I had a collection of sycamore, field maple and horse chestnut. We were excited when someone drew up in a car and put some in his boot! More exciting after tea when I went to check and there are only 2 trees left.
7) Muntjac casserole for tea, then bigger son made fairy cakes.
8) Really enjoyed watching the Great British Sewing Bee.

Wednesday pleasures
Another sunny day 🥳 but when will the really chilly winds stop?
DH put up the frame & netting over the raised bed 👏 & we spent an hour or so potting up seeds - leeks, tomatoes, chard, onions etc
Lots of birdsong & some rather frenzied activity in next door’s rose bush 🙂
The hm bread is delicious 🤤
Lovely chat with neighbour - her eldest’s 15th birthday & he is rather upset about no trip out 🙁 replaced with a small barbecue in the back garden
DH cooked dinner - one of his best ever cheesy pastas - yummy 😋 & joy of joys he also did the washing up 🥳Reading your pleasures.

Hello. Another day begins and I have to remind myself which day it actually is ( Thursday!)
I had a very productive day yesterday. Just stayed at home ( did a phone call check in with mum , again slightly grumpy so I think more like herself! )
I tidied the under stair cupboard. It’s not big but there is a sense of order to how it should be used. It had turned into a dumping ground! Anyway, scarves and hats all washed. Big coats washed. There was a bag to go out for charity collection the day after lockdown occurred so that’s been plonked back in but one day the charity shops will reopen. It’s now tidy again.
Cleaned upstairs bathrooms.
Cut the grass front and back. Pulled weeds which are starting to come through thick and fast!Reclined on garden sofa for a while in the afternoon. Again the windiest wind ( hence all the scarves and jackets being washed) but if you managed to stay out the wind it was very pleasant. We had a very yummy Indian take away for dinner. Our favourite place had reopened for takeaway only so I called in and paid and DD2 drove down to collect, it was super tasty!Beautiful sunset. All stripes across the sky.DD you look resplendent in your ball gown!& Hope that all is okay with you?I’m catching up on Masterchef Australia just now then will get up and start the day! Have a lovely day. Stay safe14 -
1. Survived the day at work. Partly because I spent the afternoon making more phone calls from another department away from people I wanted to avoid.
2. DH is feeling ok- he had coughed a few times in the night but was fine during the day.
3. DS2 cooked pesto with home grown rocket.
4. Hearing the bees in the garden. I have been trying to have a very long season of flowers flowering and it seems to be working.
5. An early night.16 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
A walk along the prom after breakfast.
Nipped into M&S for a tub of coleslaw on the way home - they have self service so no need to queue. Very quick in and out.
Said coleslaw for tea with crispy potatoes and spicy chicken, yum.
Doing sit ups with the HT. One of us didn't need our feet holding down and it wasn't him!
Chatting to next door neighbour in the front. Two police cars went past twice while we were out there - they were clearly looking for someone. They missed the person who had the hood up on his puffa coat with the hood pulled up so tight that you could only see a pair of eyes, sigh (it was a very warm day here so definitely suspicious). The chat was the pleasure, not the local plod.16 -
Great pic DD
For yesterday,
Baby bunnies making a breakfast of our lawn.
Ventured out to the farm shop and was rewarded by a haul of malted bread flour, strong white and plain wholemeal. They are obviously buying in bulk as in plain plastic bags but it made me very happy.
Continued with spring cleaning, today’s task was washing down staircase, back hall and door, the door curtain could do with a clean but gave it a good hoover and put on clothesline for a blow.
Made wholemeal cheese scones and might have snaffled one warm with butter......
Afternoon nap followed by walk across the fields, everything is so green!
Moroccan chicken traybake for tea, easy cooking and v little washing up.

Pleasures yesterday.
Another day of sunshine. Imagine how worse lockdown could be in the depths of cold, dark, rainy winter.
Pruning and tidying jobs in the front garden in the sunshine. I put in some solar lights along the drive, it looks a bit like an airport runway but I like solar lights. And fairy lights round the patio at the back, adds to the magic.
Fresh fruit and veg from the fruit and veg van that has started coming round our street every Wednesday morning. Good quality stuff, reasonable prices, pleasant man who wears mask and gloves. It means I don't have to schlepp to a supermarket just because I have run out of fresh stuff.
Roast chicken lunch - just because it was Wednesday. It's getting hard to remember what day is what, every day seems like a sleepy Sunday morning.
Afternoon singing on Facebook at 1500 (Rock Choir o'clock) - our choir leader did it yesterday and he did Mr Blue Sky. He did a great job despite some camera gremlins. Today another choir leader is doing Roar.
Cool bitter shandy using half a leftover bottle of beer from the fridge.
Watching Now70s channel with son last night, he's really getting into that 70s music, even those songs with a faint whiff of cheese.
Bedtime, animals around me, bit of reading, Classic FM in the background. The joys and comforts of home.
One life - your life - live it!16 -
Juliettet - i think you mean "needs including chocolate"..
Morning all - i have a meeting this pm that may spoil this giddy feeling i have. I have a completed thesis that could be submitted within a day, but i think my supervisors will have other ideas.... Still only 1 week to go, whatever..
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Sent some work to London for today's meeting. Decided i needed a good break (i was up doing it at 6) so OH and i went for a walk across the fields for 2 hours. Beautifully warm and sunny
2. No flour anywhere so have bit the bullet and ordered in bulk from Amazon. it's not cheap but saves the inconvenience and the looking... 6 bags! But i will freeze each for 48 hours to kill the mites and store them separately to each other.
3. OH made a chicken curry with his birthday pressie kit - was yom
4. Family film night - Spotlight. Struggled to stay awake, but was good.
5. Made a start on the marking...
6. Edit - a cheeky 6th. My brother is finally divorced. Yes, this is a pleasure as he's been separated 16 years and i thought she was still wanting to make trouble around Dad's house.... He also considers it a pleasure...
Have a good day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens16 -

VJs mum - hope the meeting goes well . Nearly there!
Dundee doll. Lovely to see your very smart look for the graduation ceremony.
I love the sunny dry weather, I really do, but it plays havoc with the asthma/ hay fever/rhinitis. Pleasure is antihistamine tablets and inhalers sorted just before lockdown began.
Followed a YouTube pattern to make a headband with buttons so NHS workers can fasten elastic of face mask to that and save their ears from hurting. It seems too big tho, and I fear the mask will pull it forward. Back to the drawing board.
Most of the online shopping apoeared. No olive oil or oregano. Oh well, I managed a big chunk of my life without either so I'll get by.
Is it too early to plant out bedding plants and tomatoes? It's so warm during the day that they're growing apace, but can turn very cold at night. Perhaps wait another week.
Happy rest of the day, everyone
