It's biryani for me again today ... but the leftovers were more than I'd anticipated, so I've got two portions... so that's today and tomorrow decided.

I have 600 grams of it!

    Good afternoon everyone,
It's another bitterly cold and wet day here. No snow but there is lots on the hills and we have had lots of sleet and hail.:( I've been putting it off but it's now decidedly chilly indoors so I'm just about to overide the heating timer and get some warmth into the place.
I've been melting my credit card this morning shopping, not specifically because it's Black Friday but because I want to make sure things are delivered. Still it was a bonus to get the gin I was buying discounted :D I've just really my kids to sort out now, younger son will be easy as he just about to move into his first non-shared house but I'm struggling for ideas for my older son and his partner.

Breakfast was toast & sliced tomato and lunch a quick cheese & pickle sarnie with a couple of satsumas. Not sure about tonight, I have a pizza in the fridge so might have that or might have fish & oven chips.:)

Cold & bright day here. No frost, but I over rode the CH timer when I got back in at midday

Just a cuppa for breakfast, then Lild turned up YS trumps this morning. YS boil in bag kippers, a shoal of them, bought 3 for freezing. I love them as an easy meal, and was down to my last packet

Then a YS roast beef dinner for one, or a "platter" as it is ponced up as.
Easy peel tangerines, or whatever name they go under these days
Healthy so far, except a pack of choc digestives also played a part

Lunch was last PB baguette, with slices of yesterday's SC pork shoulder and HM apple chutney

Dinner was planned using some pork shoulder, but now changed to the YS beef platter, I will add some frozen mixed veg to it as it looks a bit scant, but at £1.30 not complaining

Will do a mini spot of gardening later, bringing in the begonia troughs before a real frost arrives. They are still in flower and have done very well so I don't want to lose them
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • I am under the weather, nauseous, chills, cba anything. Gentle food and liquids is the order of the day. I just ate some crystalised ginger and am now sipping plain yogurt and stewed apple. Dry rice crackers later because I do not have any sort of appetite and I will be looking for the rest of my chamomile tea soon, I know I have some. Thermometer indoors says 21 but it does not feel 21, so I`ll have to be wrapping myself in my fleece dressing gown by 7. Its an awful long night if I go to bed too early

Oh Kittie, wrap up warm and take care hope you're feeling better soon

I had greengage and ginger yogurt for breakfast, then foolishly forgot I would get a break at work so ate my sandwich at 10 am before I set off!!! Then at break time I had an eat natural bar coated in yogurt, with 2 satsumas. As I'm going out tonight, and the meal is at 8 PM I've had to have a couple of crackers with cheese.
Not sure what the meal is !! Think it's soup, Turkey, then dessert, which may be icecream as they don't usually cater well for the coeliac in the group, even though there will be 6 of us!!

It's bittercold and was sleeting when I left work so I've overridden the ch, and I'll turn off when I go out.
Off topic but wondering what you would do if you get a phone call claiming to be bt Internet, saying that someone has being using the Internet between 12 and 3 am , that it could have been hacked?? I got a call twice but told them I was o my way out. But I'm wary as she wanted me to go online and change ip address. I know not to give away passwords and personal details but is there any way I can check they are whom they say they are??
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.
  • Personally - I wouldnt have believed her either. I dont quite get the "change the Internet address" idea - as I think random chance changes it at intervals anyway. If I am looking something up on Google - then the bit at the bottom of the page sometimes gives my location but, quite frequently, gives all sorts of other locations (which aren't even necessarily in this country).

If I were you - I'd ask this question on the Techies sub-forum on MSE. Someone will come back to you pretty quickly with a definitive answer on that.

Phone BT on a number that you know is legit and ask them.

    I suspect it is a scam :(

I have to agree. Tell them you will call them back (ignore any protest from them about wanting to sort it that moment) and hang up. :) Never give any passwords / codes etc out on the phone. If its genuine they won't mind at all you ringing them but see 'tip' below first...

Extra tip: If they give you a number to call back on, make a note of it obviously but do *not* use it, just use the normal enquiry one or grab it via BT's site, although quite rare its not impossible for said erm 'caller' to realise you might want to call back and already have a 'suitable number' for you to call.

It's a scam to hack your computer, BT don't care if you are using the internet during the night. Many people do. If they call back just hang up. :) I keep getting calls apparently from Apple, I own no Apple products but apparently there is an issue with my laptop being compromised:cool:

Oh Kitty - I hope you feel better tomorrow.

I cannot believe how much I am suffering from feeling cold , I'm usually the person opening windows and turning down radiators (women of a certain age and all that....!) I had a noodle and apparently feeling excessively cold or hot is one of the most common side-effects of the med I started taking a few months ago. Bet it turns the "hot valve" on in the summer:eek:. According to the thermometer my room temperature is 20C so should be pleasantly warm. I have resorted to a pair of fleece PJ trousers under my trousers and two pairs of thermal socks never mind the multiple layers on my top half and I'm only just the right side of chilly and my feet are like ice-blocks..... Thankfully after tomorrow it's meant to get marginally warmer. Anyway whinge over

I've decided I don't fancy pizza tonight but I'm having fish, oven chips, peas and sweetcorn instead:) I'm hoping a glass of red will warm me up:D

Don't try and do this at the time, ideally use a different phone line/mobile. One common scam is to hold the line open and play a "dialling tone", folk then think they are dialling the number they have just looked up rather than being told and the scammer just "plays" along when they "connect you"....
