Oh Kittie, wrap up warm and take care hope you're feeling better soon
I had greengage and ginger yogurt for breakfast, then foolishly forgot I would get a break at work so ate my sandwich at 10 am before I set off!!! Then at break time I had an eat natural bar coated in yogurt, with 2 satsumas. As I'm going out tonight, and the meal is at 8 PM I've had to have a couple of crackers with cheese.
Not sure what the meal is !! Think it's soup, Turkey, then dessert, which may be icecream as they don't usually cater well for the coeliac in the group, even though there will be 6 of us!!
It's bittercold and was sleeting when I left work so I've overridden the ch, and I'll turn off when I go out.
Off topic but wondering what you would do if you get a phone call claiming to be bt Internet, saying that someone has being using the Internet between 12 and 3 am , that it could have been hacked?? I got a call twice but told them I was o my way out. But I'm wary as she wanted me to go online and change ip address. I know not to give away passwords and personal details but is there any way I can check they are whom they say they are??
Its a scam Ive had several calls supposedly from BT telling me my computer has been compromised and they were about to disconnect it Lol would like to know how they intend to do that as I am not with BTSlimming World at target0 -
Thank you all for your advice. I went on bt website and online chat popped up so I gave them the times of the calls and she said it wasn't them and the numbers will be blocked, although I know they may try again using other numbers , I'm reassured that bt wouldn't contact me like that, and the numbers they call from are 0800.
I just am not going to answer calls from unknown numbers.
The meal last night was good although there was a lot of faff over which dishes were g free ,vegetarian etc. Which is not what you expect from a large venue, especially as they came over before we started, to check the names of the people who need the special diets and where they were sitting!
The rest of the night was good and my feet are sore from all the dancing this morning:rotfl:
Caronc I hope you are feeling better ,I hate it when you can't seem to get warm, I have cold extremities myself .Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

Ignore them / hang up. A neighbour occasionally gets calls about 'his car accident claim' even though he has never had a car or a licence...
Whatever you do never give them any detailsespecially if they want to 'login' to your computer to 'fix' it.
Brr. Its might cold today, we had a very vague dusting of snow it seems although I did not open the curtains till gone 8am (yes I was up a good hour before that!) , its certainly a bit crispy outside.
Not sure on lunch yet although given the weather to be honest it does feel like a baked potato lunch with a few extras thrown in, something quick and simple really.0 -
Wort - this is where it helps on the occasions that restaurants have those symbols for vegetarian, gluten-free, the new one (cant recall what it is/whether its been invented yet) for vegan, etc, etc.
Admits to only recently realising (courtesy of a post on MSE) that one cant (yet?) take it for granted that if something looks like it's obviously vegetarian that it is indeed vegetarian iyswim. Eg the way I took it for granted that fish shop chips are cooked in oil - as they are - in my area. Then I moved and realised one would have to look for the vegetarian symbol (even though chips are obviously vegetarian/vegan) - because in some areas of the country chips are cooked in lard instead.
It was a good idea imo of the venue to ask where those with special requirements were sitting - saves those people having to say "I'm one of the whatever-it-is" to the waiter/ress.0 -

A few years ago I had the task of going into the chippy to ask if their oil were veggie or not - and the man said the oil's fine, but that their curry sauce contained animal fats.
Veggies need to check everything, every time. I'm not one
I fancy a sausage roll now, all this talk about vegetarians!0 -

We only use Beef Dripping.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Glad you are feeling a bit better Kittie.
It is another manky, wild and bitterly cold day and I seem to have a bit of the lurgy which probably explains why I felt so chilled yesterday despite multiple layers and the heating on. (You were right Poppystar) At the moment hail and sleet is thundering down and it is almost pitch black outside. Just as well the rock music weekend in the town is inside
The lurgy hasn't stolen my appetite and I've just had a late lunch of crispy bacon and french toast.. Later I'm for some comfort food in the shape of a pork chop with mash, sprouts and a creamy mushroom & onion sauce. I've cooked the tatties for the mash and will freeze the extra portions. I CBA making small amonts of mash so either make a lot or have something else.

First real frost of the winter here, even on the roof tops. Sunny though. Good job I lugged the begonias troughs in yesterday
Nothing of excitement or wonder around the shops, got yet another box of mince pies, stocking up because on last day of volunteering I normally provide mince pies with our mid morning cuppa. Not the generous gesture it may initially appear, only about a dozen of us
Nil breakfast except cuppa
Lunch, was some of my SC pork, in a sarnie with lettuce & a tomato, followed by one of the easy peel [a trade description lie right there] clementines, with Greek yoghurt and honey
Dinner, not sure, probably more of the SC pork, with boiled spud & steamed frozen mixed veg. Another one pot jobby, I will boil extra spuds with the intention of using them on Sunday as a topping for a yet to be made pork something or other lamb casserole look alike
Following on the smoked salmon off cuts tips on here, I looked in A*da, none at all, as I believe was reported from T*sco. Maybe depends on store size? Or more likely why give off cuts shelf space when you can sell expensive slices for more? especially near Christmas:(Talking of appliances, well utensils / gadgets: I now own a "potato stand thing" :rotfl: , quite similar to the ones you see on a well known auction site, a white "four leg" one, although unlike the ones on said site this does not have the raised handle in the middle it has two flat edges to lift it with instead. The raised height is probably about 1.5 inches from the turntable maybe a bit more so I can see a slight advantage in it over "a spud on a plate" maybe. We'll see its worth a try.
EDIT: I do like the look of the solid metal 'vertical spike' ones but obviously they are going to need an oven not a microwave, but they look like they would last for donkey's years.
I was given a 4 spike spud thingy years back. It has been at the back of the cupboard for many a year. IMO a waste of time and certainly no discernible difference to the end product of a laid flat baked spud
Mine was metal, but somehow was a nuker safe alloy. Still rubbish thoughEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

The plastic thing I have here is slightly different to the ones you usually see as previously mentioned but I guess there's no harm in trying. There's not going to be any more washing up really given I'd need a plate regardless plus the 'plastic holder' will only want a quick wipe over.

Re that phonecall earlier - I've just checked my phone to see if a phonecall I'm due had come through whilst out and I got a strange number.
I just googled to see who it was and it came up as a scammer.
So - one can check back, to some extent, to ask "Who called me".
The site I got for this
https://who-called.co.uk/Number/
and you put the number that's come up on your phone at the end of the website address.0
