I cannot believe how much I am suffering from feeling cold , I'm usually the person opening windows and turning down radiators (women of a certain age and all that....!) I had a noodle and apparently feeling excessively cold or hot is one of the most common side-effects of the med I started taking a few months ago. Bet it turns the "hot valve" on in the summer:eek:. According to the thermometer my room temperature is 20C so should be pleasantly warm. I have resorted to a pair of fleece PJ trousers under my trousers and two pairs of thermal socks never mind the multiple layers on my top half and I'm only just the right side of chilly and my feet are like ice-blocks..... Thankfully after tomorrow it's meant to get marginally warmer. Anyway whinge over

I've decided I don't fancy pizza tonight but I'm having fish, oven chips, peas and sweetcorn instead:) I'm hoping a glass of red will warm me up:D

Just wondering if you're about to get the virus I caught last month. I was freezing cold for days before and then starting eating like crazy and didn't you say yesterday you were very hungry? I'm still carrying the extra kilo (to two:eek:) that I put on when poorly :(

Oh I hope not:(, I'm just getting over the cold that seemed to linger and linger and linger........

I think it a combination of the weather, the meds and not being that mobile time will tell!

Pizza sounds like the answer :)

Warm up both you and the house with the oven being on.

Pizza really is the ultimate CFO dinner...you only have leftovers if you are disciplined and if so, cold pizza for breakfast is an added bonus :D

Well the oven is on - but with haddock & oven chips :). I decided as I had cheese for lunch I'd keep the pizza. Pizza leftovers - what's are they? Unless it is a mega-sized one I'm afraid portion guidelines or not it's a whole one for me :o:rotfl:

    And me :D

I was just trying to be diplomatically OS and CFO friendly

  • Well I confess to having bought another 2 cookbooks en route from Amazon. Ahem....

In my defence - one is the "15 minute vegan" and I thought 15 minutes should be an amount of time I can make myself spend preparing a meal even if I'm feeling cba.

T'other is a vegan slowcooker book - which I thought ties into cba of "shove all in slowcooker in the morning and it doesnt matter if I feel cba later". I was a bit suspicious that all the reviews were good ones and none of them were in quite correct English (one or two in incorrect English = par for the course. All of them being not quite correct English could be the same one or two people writing them under different names). But it had one of those thingies one can push to be able to view some pages of the book - so maybes I'm just being cynical......

Nothing exciting from me today (sorry!) :)

Dinner consisted of a few quick chips and a pack of 'frozen beef slices in gravy' that had been lurking in the freezer for a couple of months, yes it was still in date and yes it was quite nice. :D

I must post up my 'dilemma' topic over the weekend although given its an appliance purchase for December there's no rush.

Talking of appliances, well utensils / gadgets: I now own a "potato stand thing" :rotfl: , quite similar to the ones you see on a well known auction site, a white "four leg" one, although unlike the ones on said site this does not have the raised handle in the middle it has two flat edges to lift it with instead. The raised height is probably about 1.5 inches from the turntable maybe a bit more so I can see a slight advantage in it over "a spud on a plate" maybe. We'll see its worth a try. :)

EDIT: I do like the look of the solid metal 'vertical spike' ones but obviously they are going to need an oven not a microwave, but they look like they would last for donkey's years.

Just a cuppa for breakfast, then Lild turned up YS trumps this morning. YS boil in bag kippers, a shoal of them, bought 3 for freezing. I love them as an easy meal, and was down to my last packet

I can't remember the last time I had a kipper, it must be about 40 years ago maybe more. When I was younger I had a real phobia about fish bones, learnt quickly where the hot spots were on fillets of fish and mum in order to get some fish into me would make sure I got the tail end, so to speak. But the fine, hairy bones of the herring tickling my throat OMG I just couldn't handle that. But now that I'm a bit more grown up ;) maybe its about time I gave kippers another go, will look for them next time I go shopping.

I had Mushroom soup from the freezer for lunch yesterday and decided rather than put the heating on I would do some baking = a batch of plain and a batch of cheese scones, plus a Chicken & sweetcorn plate pie for tea, had with some mustard mash & cabbage.

Just about to have some eggy bread, make up next weeks menu and shopping list.

  • Its amazing how quickly we can go from energetic and lively to feeling yukky and lack-lustre. I am on the mend but today will be rice cakes, chamomile tea, water and green tea. I had porridge for breakfast and will have sweet potato soup later and also later, stewed apple. I am trying to play detective and pondering on the potential cause, I think it was almond milk and today I will be getting rid of them and tomorrow going back to hm hemp milk. I now read that almonds should be pasteurised
