  • It sounds like a gale out there tonight!

I'm having a vegan cheese toastie for supper tonight. Mmm.

I had some bombay mix and beer earlier, clearly a very healthy day, lol.:p
Then I went on a spending spree (picked me up no end) got a pair of blue suede bootees (they remind me of blue desert boots I had in the 70's) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh, that is so bizarre as I bought some boots online in the sale today and I saw a pair and I couldn't think of the name of the boots that I wore when I was about 13, desert boots!:D

When I was at school, hippies and lesbians wore Doc Martens.
  • what a night, tossed and turned a lot and also a lot of hip pain, until I stuffed a pillow between my knees. Every time the wind howled, it woke me. Oh well, a new day and maybe a bit of sun. I conclude that it is the damp in the air plus my joints getting older and I feel that I lie too heavy sometimes, always on my side

I feel like a really nice fruit cake today, I haven`t got any so think I will be making one later, butter fruit eggs, nice and rich. I have too much red cabbage left so will also preserve that, while the oven is on and a spicy red braised cabbage calls but I will be adjusting ingredients to leave out the sugar. It is nice frozen. I have leeks to rescue too, just halved, sliced, washed and dried on t towels, then frozen. I do like it when veggies like leeks are ready to use from the freezer

I have to go freezer diving today, there is a noticeable difference in spaciousness but I want to concentrate on emptying the garage chest freezer, usually manage that by march. Transfer to big kitchen freezer a bit at a time. It will have to be a hm ready meal, berry crumble and a soup. The only veg to add today will be a couple of chard leaves, only got three plants left on the allotment and this time of year I dig a whole plant up and store in the fridge. It lasts a full week. Its a very good easy, none-pest plant to grow

  • Winter has officially arrived......we have snow  and I'm so glad I bought my booties yesterday :D

Banana on toast for breakfast, then I'll also do some freezer diving, I'm thinking some kind of soup for lunch and something with either prawns or fish for tea. I dont want anything too heavy as its Ladies night at the club and there will be nibbles and bakes to consume.

I'm sitting here with the patio door wide open. The skies are cloudless/blue and the sun is shining.

The thermometer says it's just 61/62, but it "feels summery" as the sun's out.

    :)

I've decided I've become lardy... and I need to eat fewer pies...and sweeties .... et al.

    Breakfast will be toast.

  • I've decided I've become lardy... and I need to eat fewer pies...and sweeties ...

Its always a two edged sword when I feel like that, the upside is that it is the kick up the derriere, the one that motivates and the other is that there will be no sweeties in the house for when I am roaming and searching

Break time, berries and kiwi and nibs, topped with half a yogurt and drinking a double sized black coffee. Luckily I did have that motivated feeling first thing and the red cabbage is simmering. No sugar with added 5 star anise, 2 bay leaves, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and I glugged in 2/3 a can of scrumpy jack. 2 apples to go in later, my stored bramleys, need to be used as they are now `sweet`

Fruit cake is also prepared, I am waiting for the butter to get soft in the sun. I`ll just add the 4 eggs and lemon extract later. Its all in one bowl, easy mary berry recipe, I had the little `fast cakes` book for donkey years

What later, I am still feeling achey down right leg and in r wrist so must be to do with sleeping position. It has to be an inverter job to pull me straight, before lunch.

No snow here but it's bitterly cold and I suspect round about may well see some of the white stuff.

    Good morning everyone,
I'm having a slower start this morning. As it's so cold I decided the LO baked beans from last night would make a good breakfast as I fancied something hot. Lunch will be some more of the soup I made the other day but I've no idea about tonight, I might make some mince or I might just rake a curry out of the freezer.

I could make a veggie biryani, with that packet mix I was gifted.

But ... CBA. I've got "stuff I could use" for that, onions, spuds, carrots, peas ... I've got rice.

I should just do it. I could cook up half the sachet today and see how it tastes. It might be rank :) I LOVE biryani, but it's so difficult/impossible to find the flavour anywhere except in a proper Indian takeaway/restaurant - and, even then, a lot these days seem to do it all wrong :)

EDIT: I'll do it. I'll see the back of that packet and find out if it's any good ... and it'll use up one of the onions and one of the fresh spuds and one of the carrots.... and I'll toss in some random peas so they'll go down a bit.

Woken at around 2 this morning, rain bashing down. I never really got back to sleep so was up around 4.30. Flicking through TV channels and found something I did not know much about, Witch finder General, the UK one. We do have it easy these days compared to our ancestors

Anyway, CFO, because of the stupid hour I made Jumbo oat porridge, with sliced apple, Greek yoghurt & honey for breakfast. Very healthy start

Went into town, mooching mainly, but bought the "needed" pudding rice, plus a YS boneless & rolled pork shoulder, bit big but will do for lots of meals

The kitchen now smells scrumptious, rice pud made, shoulder in the slow cooker

Lunch continued healthy mode, well sort of, PB baguette, with last of the YS beef slices and salad filling

Dinner will be last of the smoked salmon, with huge baked spud, and some salad bits

And I must have some of the newly made rice pud, not tried it yet so here's hoping
