    What's everyone having for dinner?

I had Morrison's Broccoli & cauliflower cheese en croute, With frozen chips + splodged with ketchup

Apologies if I have now triggered Focaccia urges, with PN mentioning making one I remember I did years ago, even did the prong fingers in it thing. OK I guess but not really now I am CFO these days

Grandchildren arrived, slightly damp, still tipping down now they have gone
One more plus, DS bought along his old ROKU TV thingy, and even better he set it up for me. All I now need to do is find out how it works. Iplayer here I come, or maybe not, can't see me catching up on some of the carp programmes currently on
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • Still majoring heavily on fruit and vegetables. Had two "fruit salads" today with Oatly "cream". Few more slices of sourdough bread (must get into making sprouted wheat bread.....). Leftover sauted veggies from yesterday (spray oil - not dollops of)/tomatoes/cucumber/grilled portobello mushrooms (with nutritional yeast and hemp hearts on top).

Feeling optimistic about it - as my 2010's size 16 jeans are starting to "fall down"/am grabbing handfuls of fabric. Think I've got back to 2010's size 14 (aka 1970s size 18) on my bottom half.

Wondering if I can get back to 1970s size 14 (2010's size 10-12) before my next home visit. If you spot someone on a train heading from the West Country back to West Wales laden with new clothes in a few months time = I did it and hit the shops:rotfl:

I've always been "big on soft breads" - and about 30 years ago or so I had my first cheese/tomato focacia style bread roll from M&S. Pricey, but bought just once.

Over the years I've always eyed up any breads that look savoury/soft.... and I've even made my own focacia about 10 years ago.... and it was straight forward/easy.

Not made it since though .... it's that whole thing of "volume you make" -v- how often you actually want to eat it over 1-2 years. I love it .... but don't want an overload, or to have it cluttering up the space....

I do keep thinking about making another though.....
I love HM focacia just fresh out of the oven with olive oil & balsamic to dip :D, using it up wouldn't be a problem for me. I do think most of the bought ones are bit disappointing though.

Have just been looking at the menu of the pub I'm going to for my tea tonight and they are actually advertising Posh Fish Finger Butty at £6.45!! I definitely won't be having that, a fillet steak has caught my eye as has a paella and also a chicken and chorizo pie :)
Crikey £6.45 for a butty  bet it won't be as posh as the one you make yourself ;)

I'm thinking of following the fly lady thread this week as the house feels neglected after all my studying, abscess, ill cat, hot weather and then extra hours at work. I like following lists and doing a bit every day otherwise I do stuff like mad for a day or two then am exhausted and do nothing for a week. I'm sure I was in more of a routine when I had to be (i.e.) had children at home with the routine of school and college etc.

I'm very tidy but need encouragement to clean things like skirting boards etc ;)
Skirting boards - life's too short to worry about them until they are really manky (for me that means I can see the grime/fluff without my specs on LOL :rotfl:)

Farway - definitely worth complaining to M&S if things aren't right, their food isn't cheap so I expect a decent standard;). I thought I did quite well for my £10 - 8 burgers & 2 fish cakes so ten free dinners.

I've been decidedly off-balance today so going for the easy option of a piece of rump steak, peppercorn sauce (from the freezer), LO girvan tatties from Friday, a flat mushroom and runner beans. A dinner that feels like a real treat but only costing around £1.50 ( steak £1.10, sauce 10p, mushroom 20p, knob of butter 10p. The spuds were free and I grew the runner beans so only a few pence for these) :D

I had prawn cocktail, a chicken and chorizo pie in the most gorgeous white sauce with something or other spicing it up served with thick chips, peas saut!ed with lettuce and mint and carrots followed by a knickerbocker glory :rotfl: Certainly ate my fill and am now thinking I'll be up half the night cleaning to work it off!! My skirting boards are almost at that stage Caron haha. I try not to look at them with my glasses on or in sunlight!!

MITSTM Very well done on your weight loss I'm impressed enough reading your complicated sounding but very nutritious meals. You're doing great :)
  • :rotfl:I think its another version of CBA basically SunnyGirl:rotfl:.

Throw together whatever vegetables I have - whether as salad or, if they need cooking, then a few minutes steaming usually. Tahini sauce = readymade tahini (whoops cheat time:o) with a bit of seasoning/bit of lemon juice/salt and pepper.

I'm not the one making any sourdough bread - yet.....gimme time...I'll get round to it. Fruit = just chop it up if need be.
  • Today was a slow day, characterised by cat cuddles and lots of naps. A bunch of us went out for a Sunday roast in the local pub. The pub is lovely, but the food was very disappointing. Greasy, non crisp roast potatoes and cold veg...

Ho hum. Eating mid afternoon led to another nap and now I truly CBA to cook or eat this evening.

Sounds like a lovely meal you can't beat a good pie and proper chips:D

Ready made tahini another for me in the "life's too short not too" category. That's not cheating it's using a good shortcut that fits with CFO ;)

That sounds lovely. The pie sounds like it was really good, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. It's so nice when you get a day off from cooking and get treated :D
