I was just stood in the kitchen thinking that I would like either a shepherd's or cottage pie. I had just decided to make one or the other at the end of the week...great minds think alike.
It would be nice if someone would cook it for bother of us though, but I think we are on our own with this one0 -
I've got lamb mince in the freezer.... I bought it thinking "can always make a shepherd's pie with that", but I'm also torn as I could make so many other great/er meals with it ... so, until I actually decide, it has to stay in the freezer. I toy with the idea of a potato moussaka (no aubergines, spuds instead; hate aubergines).... and I thought "kebab" .... and I thought "meatballs" ..... and I thought "keema".....
Indecision's my biggest limiter.
Followed very closely by lack of enthusiasm
I dragged the last of the loaf from the freezer last night. Had two slices with chocolate spread on.
Beans on toast for breakfast today I think ... at some point. That'll use up the last of the open tin of beans. In the main I get 3 portions of beans from a tin.0 -
I can't go to bed yet
the washers !!!!!!ed and my clothes for tomorrow are stuck in it... it happens quite often when my flatmate's use it back to back. Have to wait for 10 mins then try again... I want my bed!!!

I did have a boyfriend a couple of years ago who was fond of taking me out to lovely restaurants and cooking for me which in a way was good but i couldn't/didn't fancy him at all and decided I'd rather be alone

Morning all - just!
Lazy start here as I woke at 7am but have been dozing in bed with coffee. Up now but not yet showered or dressed but I have cleaned the fridge out and done some ironing at last so will get ready soon. No breakfast, lunch will be cheese on toast I think and tea tonight is going to be sausage pasta which I'm making soon with an extra portion for the freezer. I have it on the menu one night when I'm at work during August0 -
Belated Happy Birthday SunnyG :bdaycake:- sounds like wonderful meal.
Well, back to cooking four days and already bored with it all and with wandering around the shops trying to decide what would be tasty and not have to be eaten everyday for a week!
Planning sounds a good idea which I really should try;)
I guess it is the food equivalent of packing when off away for a while. …Not only do I dither over food here but also what to wear each day and while getting ready to pack is a decision nightmare at least for the next week or so I only have to reach into the case for whatever is packed and planned.
[actually I fear most areas of my life could do with a bit of planning:eek:]
Just think of all that decision and dither time I'd gain back. Yes, definitely warming to the idea:)0 -
Well no shepherd's or cottage pie today.
A banana and slice of toast for breakfast.
Cheese and pickle sandwich for lunch.
Salmon, steamed veg and new potatoes for dinner. I think I will go through the fridge in a minute and see what is in there that needs using up to make some sort of sauce or marinade for the salmon.
I'll have cake and Greek yoghurt for pudding0 -
Frugal Queen I think is the pensioner that lives with her cats in Scotland who uses her dirty bath water to flush the bog...
Oh, I always thought she was the woman living in Cornwall...

Hello, just though I'd drop by this thread. I end up cooking for one 4 days a week as my OH works away from home in the week. At the moment we're eating lots of salad lunches, so on Sunday I make us both a salad for Monday when I'm doing Sunday's. The penny has just dropped that there's nothing stopping me doing this on other days, so today whilst making my lunch up, I've done tomorrow's salad in a plastic box, when all it will require is the addition of sliced pickled beetroot and some mayo or olive oil as takes my fancy.
I don't know why it's taken me so long to think of doing this, but I'm glad I have as I loathe making salads up.Make £2025 in 2025

Mr Waitrose prepared & cooked mine for me, and it was very tasty for last night's dinner with own veggies
I actually went round Lidl's before volunteer work this morning, and came away empty handed, not a thing needed or took my fancy as I went round. I do need more cheese, but have got offer from Iceland, spend a fiver and use the Bonus card and they give me a fiver, so will put the cheese spend in their coffers soon as it is much same price anyway
Lunch was back to cheese salad sarnie, easy & tasty
Dinner will be the cold LO veggie en croute which now I think of it falls directly into PN's category of renaming and ponce up food to sound different from what is the old style version. This would be a veggie pasty really, except it is octagonal with puff pastry
I will have it with frozen chips, cooked of course, and possibly baked beans. I also get two lots out of a tin, and admit to liking cold beans, so often have a sneaky spoonful as I tip them into the pan, 'cos I'm worth it
Weather not raining, so a bit of tree pruning on the menu for later on, work up an appetite for cold faux pasty
PS welcome Slinky, one advantage of CFO, as you discovered, is doing whatever you want with food, only you to eat it anyway, so what or how it is prepared or served is your choice. Lesson one, eat your salad out of the plastic box you have it stored inEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

It was at a prestigious address, so good food, not slop.
I should get a job like that.
....and I could do with another job like it. Three hours daily with lunchbreak out of that (and my free meal).
Hmm....I foresee a slight snag - would interfere with exercise classes and voluntary work...oh well...maybe a rethink.
HollyHarvey - belated Happy Birthday indeed. Glad it was a good one.
I've just had lunch - large fresh fruit salad again and some yogurt. Followed by....err...yep...toast.
But I've cleared through quite a pile of paperwork this morning:T. That has included being promised (in writing) some money due from one of the public utilities here - that was busily trying and trying and trying again to get out of it and quoting me their own version of things. Cue for me telling them "I don't give a darn about your version of things. I am going by what happens nationally (ie across the whole of the country and not just this area of it)". End result is a lot less paperwork waiting to be done and said public utility accepting I don't accept "local" standards and they will be paying me the money due to me:D. Now how many hours of work did I have to put into making them pay up? At a guess = around 3-4 hours worth:eek:. They annoyed me at the point at which they tried to say a version of "We do things differently here"......
I think I deserve another bottle of beer for that....and I might just go and buy one...:cool:0
