Cooking for one (Mark Two)

I had the final two sausage rolls, as predicted.
Pack of six, that was three days of two sausage rolls/day.
They are tasty ... well, tasty enough. I'd not "recommend" them to anybody, but I'd not dissuade them from buying them.
You know ... that "Nice, I'd buy/eat again, but wouldn't rush to do it as they were just good, not outstanding" feeling.0 -
Tea is: a lamb/mint burger, with a big cheese slice, in a big bread roll, with ketchup .... and a pile of chips.
CFO = eating things that don't quite match, that you'd "not choose like that" just because that's what you've got to use up. Trying to get through the cheese slices rather than freezing it. 11 slices in a pack though .... tough going0 -

I just checked the size... I've two 16cm and one slightly larger one.
But dishes are about a complex blend of shape, length/width/diameter, depth, material and cooking method.
Wealthier people with large kitchens can simply buy everything they want ... and not even think about it. Those with less money and tiny kitchens have to over-stress every considered purchase ... mulling for months
The Falcons are at least nestable.... always a bonus!
For quiche, I think the issue I have is that I don't want to buy a quiche dish with a wibbly wobbly edge ... because, while that might look nicer when finished, it's an overhead in effort/faffI think £land have some for £1 right now ... I should pop down and see what they've got and I might just sigh and give in at that price.

I've got the microwave out and the kettle and that's all that I have on the work tops. My kitchen is quite small as well. There isn't any room in the cupboards to keep it, they are full of the normal kitchen things and I have a large and a small slow cooker and George Foreman grill in them as well.
What a change in the weather, this afternoon was glorious and although it's cooled a bit now I'll not need the heating on tonight.Still having a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs though for dinner.
I've just finished putting together an on-line shop and it's a whopper (for me), I seem to be short on lots of household & personal stuff at the same time. That said I've not bought that much so far this month so it won't burst the budget:). I've also a real notion for homemade fish pie with mixed fish and prawns so that's bumped it a bit as well - yes it's a want not a need but hey ho.

I get loo roll and kitchen towel from Home Bargains, bleach/cleaning from £land/4ldi/L1dl, beans from Sainsbobs, coffee 4ldi/L1dl. So those are the main "bulk it out" things. No pets, I don't drink wine ...
I've been hand writing an 4sda list since yesterday - I have 7 things on it now - and some of those are purchases I've either not made for 5 years or have never bought before.
- 2x Chocolate spread & 2x drinking chocolate. Both to stock up.
- Sausages I tried/liked last week when out.
- Big soup, as it's on offer.
- Cooked sausages, not bought for 10 years, but they're on offer, so might get those...
- Blancmange, for a particular dessert I plan to make.
- Caramel spread, for a particular dessert idea I have.
It's about £11 so far....
But then I got an unexpected possible invite out for tea over the weekend, which puts a different light on what I might want to eat...so I might go next week now instead of today.0 -

I had porridge with banana and almond milk for breakfast. I bought some Sains taste the difference oats and I'm not sure I like them.:o They didn't get as creamy as I would have liked and the oats are huge!
Oh well, I will try and add some apples and cinnamon tomorrow.Well I've just spent half an hour of my life I'll never get back on the phone to hmrc because they sent me someone else's rebate cheque complete with this persons tax references, ni number etc. incompetent twits:huh:
I had to deal with HMRC recently and they really are incompetent! It's unbelievable.:mad:0 -
I've just had a look at what needs using up, and there isn't too much. There is some veg looking a little close to becoming bendy so I've got some liver out to defrost and will make Italian Liver for dinner tonight and have that with some steamed veg and baby potatoes.
I had a Greek yoghurt with a banana for breakfast. That used up the last rapidly going black banana that I had hanging around.
I'm meeting my nephew and sister in law in town shortly and we may have a sandwich in a cafe or pub at lunchtime. If we don't and I come home I'll just have a cheese and pickle sandwich here.0 -

I've also got loads of toilet/bathroom/kitchen cleaner. At least it's all going down now.
To be honest I'd much prefer to shop around and just pick up what I need when I need it, but I can't so on-line is a good solution for me. If need be I just take the hit re extra charge for not meeting the minimum. The way I look at it is I would be £7 at least in taxi fares to get to/from the supermarket so this way works out cheaper and it's brought right to my kitchen. I often get bits for my Dad (he pays me back), that he likes from Tesco in with my shop which brings up the cost. Thankfully I drink wine......;)
It's raining again and back to being quite chilly, ideal weather for fish pie later:D. I got some nice crusty rolls in my shop so one of these with cheese & chutney & a cupasoup will be lunch.0 -

And add in the cost of the inevitable coffee at the supermarket to recover from the shopping - or is that just me:o
I have found that being a supermarket flitter helps (I usually use another word). I'm registered with most of them so, as I only usually use them for the heavy, the cupboard, the freezer box stuff and fresh food only for the week of the shop, I wait until they send me an offer I can't refuse and use whoever sends it. That usually covers the minimum charge and/or delivery charge plus a bit more
.
Top up in between in person - although that was a struggle today because I had some weird eye problem last night and although the vision is better I should probably have taken it easy today as I feel exhausted and a bit shaky._pale_0
