I have been out to Tesco because they have got some veg I wanted on offer and when I got back I reaslised that I had intended to go to Waitrose as it is on the way back. They have my favourite coffee that I only buy as a treat on half price offer at the moment and I wanted to get a couple of those. I think the offer is on until the 3rd October though so I can go and get some next week.
Can you pop out again and get suasage rolls from somewhere?0 -

I've asked myself that question 3x already - and the answer is yes, I could pop back ... but should I?
I already have food overload, truth be told.... and I should be cooking what I already have/intended to cook....
So I've chosen not to. Although I really, really, really want sausage rolls, even though I had them 3 days in a row this week ... I'll make the quiche I deliberately bought milk for ... because I still have a backlog of cheese slices that need using up - and I bought 1Kg of onions yesterday. So I need to make a large cheese/onion quiche to get rid of that cheese ... and an onion. I've also had a "strange idea" of another ingredient to toss in ... which I hope will work out OK, even though it's weird...I think it has winner potential. I should google it, see if anybody's ever done it before; I doubt they have....0 -
I went to the greengrocer yesterday and bought lemons, a huge lot of fresh ginger, red peppers, cucumber and a big bunch of coriander. £4, I was impressed by the price.
I had a fruit and almond milk smoothie for breakfast and I'm having a veggie burger, HM potato wedges and salad for lunch. I'm going to make salsa with red onion, cucumber, tomatoes and coriander as well.:)0 -
I've done no cooking for one or any other number for weeks.
Yesterday I had 3 slices of toast and a knife intermittently scooping out peanut butter from the jar
I decided tonight to cook a pizza which has been in the freezer for months...
It's burnt! I put the grill and fan on rather than the oven and fan *sighs*
Hence why I don't post in any food related threads anymore.
I really should just stick to toastPasturesNew wrote: »My mum used to do that - every year I got a chocolate orange.... for about 25-30 years .... and I really didn't want it. Came to dread the fact that there'd be an orange in there ...and I'd have to, yet again, pretend to be delighted
I'd have liked to have had different ones - there were many exciting/new flavours available ... or have none at all.
It became the thing mum always bought because you said you liked it once, so now you get it every year. Please don't become that mum
Good morning,
I thought I'd get myself up and organised and head to the library first thing before the rain came back in. Suddenly remembered it's a local holiday weekend and yep it's closed until Tuesday - thankfully I've got books on my Kindle or I'd be beside myself!
My Dad was supposed to be popping by for lunch after he'd been out with his pal for a run in the car but has just phoned he's absolutely loaded with the cold so a day of thwarted plans all round.
Breakfast was the usual toast and lunch may well the remains of the fishpie, it seems to have made 2 and a bit portions. I'll freeze the second portion and what's left will do for lunch. Tonight I'm not sure possibly chicken wings. I'm going to pop a lamb shank in the slow cooker but will have that tomorrow as I prefer to let it sit overnight so I can lift the fat of the juices (I hate greasy gravy).:)0 -
I have spent far too long thinking about food - and what I could make .... and ended up grabbing the chicken curry I randomly bought yesterday and am nuking it
It comes with rice .... so it's just one small dish .... a mere nibble really .... that'll do
EDIT: Won't buy this again .... it's not great. Cost £1 ... I'd value it at 50p.
EDIT 2: Consoled myself by knocking up a quick After Eights BrownieEaten 1/3rd of that for lunch.

I've not got round to going to supermarket this morning as per plan.
So I'm repeating leftovers of stuff I had yesterday bought from corner shop and harvested from garden. So more stir-fry and saute potatoes and some fruit with cream. Gasping to get to supermarket and get a better stock in.
But this morning went - trying to contact mother and not succeeding and deciding to do some hard googling about my brother (and...yep....he's a worse person than I thought he was - and I wasnt giving him much credit for being a decent person anyway). Which included trying to make contact with him - whilst I could still "land him right in it by telling our mother I was unable to" and being "rather firm" with him in writing to effect of "What are you doing about the parents?". I've held back from mentioning that my googling has revealed he is in a much better position to deal with anything than I am (apart from the brainpower he wasnt favoured with at birth:cool::cool::cool:). Have established he has married into being pretty well-off and could provide accommodation for parent/s if need be (very nice too thank you:cool::cool:) and has just deliberately blocked that route:cool::cool::cool:.
Is not surprised:cool::cool::cool::(
Anyways - time to finish snatched lunch and hope I do manage to get to the supermarket. I have a mind a treat or two - if I can find something that constitutes "treat" in my book......0 -
Anyone got some ideas for cheap/lazy type foods that can be whipped up quickly when exhausted after work? I'm not really into batch cooking and freezing stuff as I find it really unappealing once it's reheated.
Lately I have been buying pre-made ravioli and keeping it in the freezer and making sure I have pasta sauce on hand to go with it. Not the healthiest thing, but better than giving in and getting takeaway.0 -

You need to read the whole thread ...
Crumpets are popular.
I'm into burgers and chips at the moment ... once I'm over it I might not have that again for 3-4 years then I'll eat it 30x again.0 -
:rotfl::rotfl:Or, put briefly, a lot of us on here look for "cheap/lazy" eating. Comes with the territory (ie being single).:)0

If CFO, then really whatever you fancy, there are no rules or guilt trips involved.
Beans on toast is fine, as are ready meals for one, some are much better quality / value than others
Omelettes are easy, bung anything you fancy in them, cheese / mushrooms / peppers. Whatever is to hand and you like to eat
Or if feeling flush, get fish and chips / curry / Chinese on the way homeGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0
