    Hi Maisie, and welcome.
I turned 50 this year - it is indeed a number that focuses the mind ;)

The HT also had issues with the texture of meat Monna. For years if we went to McDonalds with friends (which we did every now and then because he liked the idea) we had to take the burger out of his cheeseburger and he had a warm cheese bun. He started gradually with ham, then chicken, then bacon and now eats most things. When he was small nobody was allowed to force him to eat because of what happened to me (I was forced until I vomited). He doesn't over eat and I'm a big fan of starting small and letting him ask for more if he wants it rather than handing out a giant plate of whatever he's having for dinner and seeing how much he can fit in. It's been interesting for me to watch the results of letting him make his own choices. He doesn't like sweets, prefers my home made brownies to shop bought cake - he won't touch things like doughnuts and he usually has a piece of toast or a slice of cheese for supper if he's hungry.

TT I feel for you, I really do.

Hello Maisie and welcome. I am 3 inches shorter than you and weigh more......

MallyGirl I was 50 in May. I'm still 15 in my head most of the time though :rotfl:

I was also 50 in May. I certainly felt 15 again when I went to see Gary Numan last week - I saw him a few times at 14 & 15. Those were the days :)

Huh. Children, you are right. Sometimes it does take one particular event to focus the mind. The problem with that is when the event is over we relax too much and start putting the weight back on. We find this very depressing, and what do we do when we're depressed? Correct. We comfort ourselves with food.

I was also 15stone at 5ft 2 but trauma quickly removed 2x1/2 stones and I liked the way I looked so kept it off for a couple of years. The last challenge removed another 1/2 stone.
My baby brother is celebrating his golden wedding next year and inviting as many people as possible who were there for the wedding. I would love to lose another stone and have given myself plenty of time, and ,sadly, I will need every day of it.

TT. sympathies. I bet you feel like slapping the hands of visitors who load their plates and leave most of it. They have obviously never had to ration themselves for any reason. Enjoy your cauliflower cheese.

Hi everyone, I have been reading along and I recognise lots of similar issues I have too when it comes to food. I am currently attempting to slow my eating down. This is a legacy from my childhood where my father (who certainly had his own problems with weight) used to take food from my plate after he had gulped his own down. The only way I could stop this was to shovel my food in as quickly as possible, a horrible habit that after all these years I am trying to stop.

Anyway, I have signed up to Slimming World online and have had a very successful first week. I lost 11 lbs which I know is mostly water but I am hoping some of it is fat :D. My blood sugar is hovering around the normal range now so I feel loads better as well. I am eating around 10 portions of fruit and veg a day which is a massive change and I hope I can keep it up.

I am due to see a hospital dietician next month so I want to have made positive changes before then. My diabetes nurse will be pleased too but mostly, and I can't stress this enough, I am doing this for me.

My food today looked like this:

    b - none
l - kedgeree and a chicken salad roll
d - pulled pork, salad and corn on the cob
    s - apple and 2 satsumas.

I hope you all have a great evening whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning all. Its a 1lb loss for me this week. It was more but DH had his 70th birthday last wednesday and I've been sampling his birthday cake since then.
Not sure that I'll lose anything this week. Today we're going out for a birthday breakfast for him and Monday we're off to centre parks for 5 days with DS1, DIL and the new DGD. I think I'll have to start again next weekend.

Dumpling quote: I can't stress this enough, I am doing this for me. yes, yes, yes :j

I had quite a good day yesterday and stayed within my calorie quota. The meals look a little strange, cold pilchards in tomato sauce and hot marrowfat peas!!
I'm going to keep busy today and try not to obsess over food but at the moment I'm feeling hungry so I hope the feeling will wear off once I get outside and start the day.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I'm just back from getting my flu jab so I made sure I had some breakfast first. I'm not at all worried about having an injection but I felt a little light headed when I got up.

My meals today look like this:

b - scrambled eggs, wholemeal toast and grated cheddar
    l - tuna salad
d - liver and onions, mash, broccoli. carrots and green beans
    s - satsumas,apple, skimmed milk for teas.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Well Zafiro,I can't honestly say that pilchards in tomato sauce and marrowfat peas would be my my meal of choice, but there we are, each to his own.

Br: boiled egg and toast soldiers. (I've run out of cardboard)

Lunch: salad and a sausage roll that I made for DS2 and he didn't turn up to eat it. It was delicious. 1 pear.

I have enough calories left to have an oatcake or two with peanut butter if I can't hold out tonight.
