Poor you TT! I hope the painkillers kick in quickly. Is it too hot over there to put a hot water bottle on your back?

Last day of August - where has this year gone?

I was looking back at my weight loss over the last three months as I keep a daily record.
June and July were iffy months. I'd lose a couple of pounds and then put it back on, this happened time and time again.
However, this August things have been better as I've managed to lose 7.5lb in total. I think my weight/body had settled down and got used to being a bit lighter, I'm not sure how to describe it but I feel full so it was easier to lose a bit more weight.

I know I've still a long way to go, (four and a half stone) to get to what the charts say but I'm aiming for two and a half stone which is slightly more than where I was in my 20's.

One very good thing about all of this is that I eat far more healthily, It may be boring at times, particularly when I need to restock fruit and veg, but I obsess far less about food than I used to. Another upside is that DH is now watching his weight, although he's far more active than me and far less to lose.

The downside to DH losing weight is that originally, I said that when I got down to his weight I'd take up the hobby I stopped several years ago which we both shared and enjoyed. He still does the hobby so maybe, I should try to feed him more 'treats' so my journey will be shorter.

I know I'm not going to make my target for this challenge but I'm looking forward to the next challenge as I'm in this for the long haul.

    that is a great update.

All school holidays are bad for me - either we are away or DD is at home so I end up eating things which she will like rather than what I would normally have. Still, she is 15 now so I don't have many years before she flies the nest to uni so I am enjoying our time together and will get back on the plan from next week :)

Well I seem to have stalled sts for me again. However I have been referred by the nurse to a slimming club for 12 weeks so am hoping that will kick start me again, first meeting is Tuesday (as long as dh gets home in time from work to watch the kids) I am equal parts happy and nervous

zafiro, me too. I lost a couple of stones quickly and then took about a year to lose another half stone. Im now working on the the next half stone. After that I hope to lose another couple of stones but very, very gradually. Then, like you, I will be not much heavier than I was in my twenties, but still a good stone heavier than the charts say. I don't know who draws up these charts but a curse on them.

Can anyone tell me why, when I first lost weight all my clothes swam on me and I had to make extra holes in belts to keep jeans and trousers up, but although I've since lost a bit more weight those same belts are now too tight on the last hole.
I can only think that the fat that was packed around my insides has moved up to the surface.

I tell myself that if I only lose a pound a month that's nearly a stone a year and hopefully by doing things so slowly the diet will be more sustainable and the weight will stay off.

It must seem overwhelming Knit Witch I can only suggest breaking it down into manageable chunks.
I feel very sorry for anyone who was once slim and has now put on a lot of weight. It must be much more distressing than for those of us who have been born fat.

KnitWitch, you are trying to get back to near where you once were whilst I am trying to get down to somewhere I have never been. Well, not since I was about 12 years old anyway.

Mother Nature is so cruel sometimes.

Frankly at the moment if I could get down to a size 16 (14 would be better) I wouldn't give a stuff what it said on the scales :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I agree. Never mind about health and well-being. I want to fit into some nice clothes and LOOK good.

That's it! I don't want to always be the "stupid, fat cripple" holding everyone back (and yes that HAS been said to my face )
