Hello all.
So I need some advice.....again!
Personal Trainer weighed me today for the first time, minus my footwear on a set of scales which are top of the range - I guess it needs to be important in a gym.
I am 68kg. The Boots machine, when I weigh myself, says 70kg.....so officially, minus footwear and wearing gym clothes, I am 2kg lighter - either the clothes I wear weigh 2kg (possible as I have steel toe caps) or the boots machine doesn't just lie about fat, but also how heavy I really am (i.e it's not level at 0.00 when you get on).
Either way, i'm taking the 68kg, not because it's lighter, i'd have taken 72.0kg if that was right, but because it's without shoes and wearing much lighter clothing and more accurate.
So, I am proud to say I am 10 stone 10lbs, but for the challenge, can I say i've lost 4lbs this week
I'm only kidding about using it in the challenge - I was probably 4lbs lighter all along, but always weighed with shoes/clothes, but it was a shock when he said 68.0kg - i'm only 0.2kg away from being the lowest I can recall in the past 25 years.Weight Loss - Start (21st September 2016) 13st 10lbs, Current 10st 10lb (20th August 2017) :j
Target 11st 3lbs - Completed
New target - lose remainder of fat and gain muscle :cool:0 -
So yesterday we went up a mountain to find a very pleasant 22 degrees and a nice breeze. 24000 steps.
No, you have to guess where I live for RL reasons - less than two hours by plane from London
The weather is a bit cooler today.
We always take bread, hard cheese , dried sausage and boiled eggs when we are doing outdoor adventures as they are both heat and cold proof and survive bashing up and down. However, if we're out lots, then it's not really healthy is it?
Fruit aways becomes a mangled mess so we take dried fruit and nut mix - has anyone other ideas?
So far today at home, we've had hm yog and local strawberries and hm courgette soup with a small piece of cheddar.
This evening it's spicy chicken livers.
Tomorrow, if it stays cooler, I shall attempt a run or a gym trip.
Hope you are all well and enjoying the day.0 -
Evening all
I think the gym sounds fabulous CBA. Thoroughly agree that a machine in B**ts is probably not the best way to measure fat.
I'm not a nutritionist but I think the current ideas are that :
sugars (cut them out) and carbs (cut them down) are stored as fat,
protein (eg your eggs) are good for muscle building and
dairy fats aren't bad for you (so stop eating all the low fat stuff promoted by the sms !) and go back to full fat/high protein
I drink about 2 litres of water a day, but don't forget there's water in everything you drink, fruit and vegetables.
WI tomorrow - good luck everyone
Lx
As my above post - i'm stopping the Boots machine now, It's done me well for over 10 months, but now I have the better option at the gym.
I'm certainly eating more protein - I ate a lot before, but even more now. Sugars are very low in my diet anyway.
The dairy fat does worry me a bit, mainly as I had green topped milk 6 or so weeks ago and it tasted really fatty whereas i'm used to my red topped skimmed milk.
I must drink close to 2 litres of water. Certainly enough at the gym this morning.
Thanks for the advice and well done on the 1lb loss this weekFurryBeastOz wrote: »Hi there. Been AWOL this week. Just TOO busy. Although my temping is only 25hrs, I put in 35 this week. It MAY have paid off. There are mutterings of a contract of some sort.
However, I have been going to the gym religiously. Meal prepping like mad, and DH hasn't been here. It's been a good week. I have discovered the wonder that is Zoodles/Courgetti. They really help keep the carbs down.
I've been being adventurous with sauces and flavours as well, so I'm not getting bored. I don't think I've had chicken, broccoli and brown rice once.
B - Porridge. (I need the carbs as I'm off to the gym shortly and I've been flagging)
L - Tuna steak and Broccoli with Soy.
D - Chilli Beef Stir Fry with Brown rice and salad
S - Sugar Free Jelly ( a god send), Soya Protein Custard, Fruit)
Have a great Saturday all. CBA sounds like your plan is excellent. As your PT said - 11 stone of muscle is great. 10 stone of fat is not. I'm hoping to come out of this in a similar state. Not so worried about the absolute figure on the scales.
Good luck with the contract :T
I'm getting to the point where the actual weight isn't that important, but I want to stick around here as i'm wanting to lose the remaining fat and support others and see how they are doing. I'm pleased today after my weigh in readings, plus it was a good gentle workout that I enjoyed.Weight Loss - Start (21st September 2016) 13st 10lbs, Current 10st 10lb (20th August 2017) :j

It went well - I was really nervous to start with but the instructor was lovely. By the end it was coming back to me. I have booked 2 more lessons before we go on holiday. We are going on a trek whilst there. DD has her try this week now that she is back from a very brutal DofE expedition
I did get a bit of a shock when I couldn't get my riding boots on - calves too fatDH said it was extra muscle from running - lovely man but a little deluded
I can get them on over bare legs but not over leggings so I might just have to allow more time next attempt.

Morning all.
B: low carb granola, berries, skim
L: HM gazpacho plus something elseHM lasagna (high on veg, low on meat/pasta/cheese), salad
50 min dog walk
2 weeks till we go away to Devon with friends so I need to get a couple of quick laps in. The holiday will be active but there will be wine and nice crisps!
I managed last week pretty well - DD was away and DH really wanted to go out for meals 'because we could'. I managed to limit it to Monday pub quiz and Friday curry. I am also trying to get the freezer back under control so all meals will come from it till we go away, with some fresh veg added. I have a list of what is in there but it is a very long list!I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans
