Can you put me down for £100 please?
I need to save a chunk of this for the food we'll take with us to the festival we go to every year. It tends to be a bit more convenience food based to be easy to prepare on a camping stove and with lots of extra snacks. We have tons of stuff to use from the freezer for the rest of the month though so it shouldn't be too difficult.

I use soft cheese when I make a quiche for DD and it always turns out fine :)

Thanks pipkin. I'll keep that in mind for the next batch.

At MIL's today and she asked us to grab some potatoes, and we also realised she didn't have any whole milk in (for DD) when we got here, so £1.45 spent in Mr T's. Milk will not get wasted as we'll take home with us, and potatoes we'll all be eating this pm as MIL has made a lovely beef stew for us all :)

    New total £177.47/£300.

I'm starting August at £8.48, due to an overspend of that amount in July, but as most of what I bought yesterday will be used in August anyway, I think that's fine.

Just making some yummy celery soup for my lunch, using bendy stuff from the fridge!!

I think this month might be harder as it's school holidays and the boys will need more meals at home but at least it's not £50 a week school dinners ... still gonna try to stay in budget as I've stocked up loads, I've just got to try to get them not to eat it all in the first few days while I'm at work lol ...

  • Just had the first grocery spend of the month - £52.81 spent at Approved Food. Stocked up on gluten free flour, cereal, porridge and snacks for at least the next thee months, so I'm very happy. I try to check regularly to see if they've got any good value gf products, and today was brilliant. I'm a rather chuffed coeliac right now, although when the order arrives I suspect there'll be grumbling from the reprobates I have birthed that there's no sweets and crisps. And if they try to nick my special gf snacks then there'll be all out war...
  • Can you put me down for £250 for this month.

First shop is £42.50, I'm going to try splitting my budget into weekly chunks i.e. £50 a week. Hopefully this will work!

  • Hello! August has four Saturdays in it, so can I please be down for $950.

Mr E went way over budget in my absence this week but somehow without buying anything substantial that I can stretch over the next weeks, so it's a very clean slate of a month this time.

We did a massive batch cook session last night: cottage pie for us, scotch eggs for DH and mushroom risotto for DD. 2.5 hours of joint effort to get it all done, but worth it.

Had to top up milk this morning, dishwasher salt, unsalted butter (for DD), and crisps and a diet pepsi for me, from Lidls, so a further £4.54 spent.

I still need to get some more foil trays, but they don't seem to stock them. I don't really want to buy them from S'burys as they are so expensive. Any ideas?

    New total: £182.01/£300.

I have included booze in the budget figure I have stated above so will stick with that for August and not split it out.

My budget does not start until Friday but I did a bulk meat purchase of chicken and bacon on Saturday so will add £26.00 to my total as the meat will not be used until then.

    £26.00/£360
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
