    Morning all!

I have opted not to go in to work today, not very DFW as I will lose a day's pay but I didn't get much sleep last night, we have very little work at the moment and there's tons to be done here.

I've had some free Whitt@rds tea which someone gave my mum as a gift but she won't try anything new. It's a fabulous gift box with eight different varieties (20 bags of each.) This could be dangerous because I already love it!

Breakfast was some leftover blue cheese on crackers, lunch will probably be the same.

I've just bought a SH bike off of eb@y so DS can get to and from his new job for free :T He agreed to having the cheapest of all the possibles as he wants money to go on a date later :D

Today is going to be all about the ironing, if I'm losing a days money then it needs to be productive!

DS won't be home for dinner, I will probably just get something YS for me.

I have picked another five tomatoes so probably have enough to do my courgette and anchovy spaghetti dish, if I can find a few more I might double up the recipe and freeze in batches, I love being able to come home from work and just stick a freezer bag in the microwave!

Have a good day everyone :)

    Sixth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Hi all, I'm new here but would really like to make a start on recording the small things in the hope that it will encourage good habits in my daily life that will help us to become debt-free as soon as possible!

I regularly go into work early (by bicycle) and take my showers at work - apart from the money saving benefit, the shower at work is so much nicer than ours at home! I make my OH jealous when I describe to her how good the shower is!

Cashed in my Slidejoy earnings (~£3.90)
Checked the swagbucks thread on here to check out previously unknown ways of earning!

I should be able to harvest a few radishes from my garden this evening before the butterflies lay their eggs on too many of them!

    Welcome, Herniac!

I'm about three quarters of the way through the ironing but have just stopped for a cold drink, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I have made it to the end of term.
Bit of a double edge sword because someone I've worked closely with for 11 years retired today, and I was in bits because I've known him for over 20 years and will really miss him. He's like another dad to me...
On the plus side, I was interviewed for his job yesterday and got it. My letter was given to me today confirming my promotion to second in department and associated pay rise  I've already decided to put the extra money into savings - I won't miss what I've never had will I?
Not much to report. Today is not a nsd - we always have alcohol and takeaway to celebrate the end of the school year (alcohol just for the parents, just in case anyone thought I was encouraging an 8 year old into drinking). I'm a bit too tired to think straight at the moment. It always takes a few days for the fact that I'm off for a while to sink in...
  • cat what great news! Congrats hope it's a big financial reward for a titchy extra effort ;-)

That is fantastic news, CCL , really pleased for you!

In other great news I've gotten to the end of the ironing pile and it's all put away :D I do have a big pile of laundry to do but hopefully I can keep on top of it now (for a while at least.)

Dinner tonight was tuna and cucumber sandwich (my favourite) and crisps, I love not having to worry about anyone else!

I think my first aubergine is almost ripe, I need to look up how to tell. I've decided I will stuff and cook the first one and then pickle the rest, the celery is looking quite leafy, I hope it all comes together at the same time! I wish I'd grown chillies and garlic now so it would be ALL my own stuff in the pickle but maybe next year :)

  • Hi everyone, I'm new and desperate need of support to motivate and friendship on my debt free wannabe aim. Tonight is the major lightbulb moment and I wonder on my way home from work where do I start! So I will read through your posts for tips and hopefully realise I'm not alone x
  • Hi & welcome littlemiss2017 :) start at the beginning and take small steps, they'll all add up to some big steps over time. Welcome to our merry little band of frugaliers. We are by far one of the friendliest and most supportive threads on this site :) good luck with it all!

FVD I'm dreaming of making aubergine parmigiana :)

annoyingly I woke up to the rain. I had left my washing on the line so that puts paid to getting another load done today :( also means allotment plans are on hold until later on....

Meeting up with dd later. Need to come up with an idea of what to do. Might suggest swimming for a cheap and cheerful activity ;)

Need to make the courgette chutney today as have now about 15 courgettes  Also will make sweet chilli jam and pickled cucumbers. Jam & chutney if turns out good will form part of my fil's xmas present ;)

I want to paint the box for the hamper I am putting together for cm's. Something madam will love getting involved in :D

other than those activities I might just do some housework done, all meals from stores, and list some things on face/fleabay

    That'll do! x

Welcome Hernaic and Littlemiss You've come to a great thread, really supportive and lovely:)

CCL that's brilliant news, and you made it to the end of the School year. Enjoy the school holidays, you've earned a break at least twice over:j
luckylady great to see you back:)
Well yesterday was an interesting day at the hospital, one bad tempered podiatrist who gave me a lecture as they have found a sore underneath part of my heal:( and I'm now sporting a very fetching pressure reducing sandal. I admitted that I have been lax in the podiatry department, but when u are having to prepare for major surgery next year and you attend that hospital for an outpatient appointment and they end up keeping you in for a week, and you are having to do so much to prepare for that operation including having your bathroom ripped out, not including other hospital appointments, some things are going to fall less by the wayside as other things take priority.
Fortunately my specialist was very understanding, I've been with him for nearly 20 years and he actually pointed out to the register that I am going to have sore problems being an amputee with no feeling and that when transferring, it is going to involve abnormal transfer pressures that need to be accounted for. That specialist has been thru so many ups and downs with me over the years.
    Nothing much else to report
About to start the usual cat cleaning in a minute.
DD is going away for a sporting comp so I've got a few bits to iron for her and me. Should have whizzed my ironing over to you FVD:D
Some paperwork to catch up on today, might do some in a minute so I can have a fairly relaxed day.
Have a great day everyone x
