Can anyone recommend any tried and tested healthy snacks to make/bake for/with my kids? no allergies and will eat pretty much anything! Sweet OR savoury and preferably something that will keep for at least a few days.
Thankyou!0 -
Google Spicy Baked Chick Peas. It's just a drained can of chick peas, with some basic spices, bunged on a tray in the oven until crispy.0

Homemade granola, the recipe I use approx 100cals per 25g,
Mix together 1 tbls oil, 50mls maple syrup, 50mls water, 1 tsp vanilla. Put 3 cups rolled grains in a bowl, I use jumbo oats, wheat and barley flakes 1 cup of each, you could use all oats, 1/4 cup fine oatmeal, 1/2 cup seeds (sunflower, pumkin, sesame mix) Add the liquid to the dry and mix well, spread in a baking tin and bake at 150c takes about 30-40 mins stir it around when baking a couple of times, cool in tin add 1/2 cup raisins. This is nice mixed with fresh pop corn as a snack.0 -

Favourite real fruit yoghurt of choice or add Lemon juice in sufficient quantities at least a whole one, to enough sugar and bung on plain yoghurt, mix thoroughly, then bung on enough not too much Porridge oats of choice (I am using shop brought Yeo Valley yoghurt 2 for 1's or greek yoghurt or Easi yo if I am being good, mix it all up, eat straight away or let it all soak up a bit. Good for you, Vitamin C, Calcium, fibre, good old oats...and best of all quick! no cooking so in theory as MSE as they come depending on how you make the recipe!#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Apples! Believe it or not, apples totally took the craving away for me, just a quarter piece at a time.0

Basically anything that is fruit or vegetable based is low in calories...But many ,eals can be low in calories too so you are not hungry but not piling on the calories and having that turn into lbs..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Carrots?, apples?, I gave up nearly a year ago after 40 years, didn't find any nice snacks lol have put on weight but am supposedly healthier now
Good luck with your giving up, are you using anything? I had patches for a while till I became allergic to them so went without, nearly a year on I can't say I don't fancy a smoke, but when I do, I have this sort of sadness thing saying awwwwww you can't you don't smoke anymore. The main reason I gave up was money, I now can't believe how much I spent
Heres to the first month xxx (once you get over that,it is easier)whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

When I stopped last year I found ice poles were great, you can get sugar free ones that are low n calories, I just used to have them when I got a craving.
Whatever you do don't beat yourself up about a few pounds you can deal with that once you have got past the worst of the giving up the ciggs.
