:o The only way I do it, is by not taking money to work - therefore can't just pop to the shops for milk and then ending up with £5 of rubbish.

If I have it in the house then I eat it - so I try really really hard to avoid buying things.

I would eat a whole packet of biscuits for my dinner and not bother with real food - very very bad.

I do not smoke, don't really drink, don't gamble, don't love shoes but can't resist the munchies!

No advice other than - don't buy stuff or let other people buy it for you!

Goodluck - you're a better person than me if you succeed!:o
  • Keep up with regular mealtimes so you don't get a 'dip' and hunger pangs that force you to eat rubbish. Keep healthy food in...fruit and nuts, seeds, grated carrot or sticks.

I have 2 teenagers who need regular feeds to prevent them turning into raging fridge raiders! Porridge is good in a morning as you can last longer, go for wholemeal things rather than white processed rubbish.

I love eating and our family's motto seems to be 'what can we eat next'! I make bread everyday in the bm and it is lovely with different spreads, better than cake really.

Don't be too hard on yourself!

  • I do get hungry a lot so I stock up on healthier snacks like fruit, dried fruit, nuts etc. sometimes if I'm a bit nibbly i just have a cup of tea and that fills me up enough to forget about it for a while.

I still have a fair intake of biscuits though - we only live once after all. ;)

I simply don't buy biscuits, crisps, etc.

I do "graze" my way through my working day on pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pine nuts, raisins.

At home on an evening, I have recently started keeping some grapes in the fridge.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • you can also keep grapes in the freezer, then they become like tiny grape flavoured ice lollies...take ages to eat so cut down the amount you're consuming.

Sounds a bit mad but if you have the munchies you can always try cleaning your teeth...the cravings tend to go then!

  • The best thing to beat the munchies is to eat large meals. The other thing to do is make yourself wait half an hour. If you still want it after that, then munch away!

I keep lots of fruits indoors. but not bananas as they are high in sugar and with me they won't last 15 minutes anyway! :o

However my fruit bowl is always heaving with apples and citrus such as clementines, satsumas et. You can't really eat too much of these as they are all low calorie and rich in vitamins and minerals. I've had an apple about 20 minutes ago. Another thing I do quite often is to cook lots of vegetables such as carrots and broccoli, then pick a bit on those when I feel peckish. A glass of skim milk with it completes a low calorie, nutrient-packed snack.

You can't go wrong with eating lots of fruit and vegs. :)
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

    How to beat the munchies?....Eat!
I'm doing Slimming World diet atm so anything legal! Weetabix with skimmed milk and a bit of Canderel, scrambled egg (really takes the edge of my hunger!), cup of low cal hot choc, fruit, sliced banana with yogurt on top.
If I'm just feeling 'picky' as opposed to that ravenous 'gotta stuff my face this minute with anything around', then I'll chop up a load of veg as crudites and eat with a low cal dip or break up a portion of Ryvita into bits and eat them like crisps. I keep eating til the munchies have gone, so I don't sabotage my diet!
  • Hard boiled eggs make a good snack as does babybel cheese - protein is meant to be more filling and doesnt upset blood sugar the way carbs do.
