thanks tom
i will look into that, seeing as they havent rang me back yet!0 -
O2 has just been enabled in my exchange and after reading this thread i have asked aol for a mac code today (sick of the service). I was only paying £9.99 a month for 8mb and free evening and weekend calls with aol talk.
I will now be paying £7.50 a month to O2 for truly unlimited 8mb broadband and will get my free evening and weekend calls through primus saver option 2. The £25 through quidco is nice too :beer:0 -
Well after having a nightmare this morning with my O2 BB, I phoned them and got a very helpful person who explained that it should be something to do with noise something something (I just nodded and agreed as I had no idea what he was talking about) he said yes he could see we had had a problem (it had tried to reconnect 175 times this morning) and reduced it and now its fine hasnt kicked us out once...
Yeay for O20 -
Hi,
can someone please let me know how02 broadband/BT line works?
Can i plug the 02 modem into any phone socket or just the main one?
if i plug the modem into the main one, do i have to remove the bt phone or does the modem have an outlet ofr the bt phone?
sorry forso many questions.
Many thanks,
PFM0 -
Plug the ADSL filter into a phone socket (you should have one plugged into all phone sockets eventually), then plug the O2 wifi box into the filter, and your phone into it...
You're good to go0 -
For an excellent run through of how to set it all up just put the CD-ROM they send with the hardware into your computer and it'll hold your hand and guide/test you through the whole experience
It is a very good guide (by comparison with all the others I've seen).
You're probably setup by now, and for further help/tips/tricks/appeals/questions worth checking out the ThinkBroadband forum at

Well.... despite O2 saying they couldn't give me an estimate of when my exchange would be enabled it seems that the information on
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php
isn't available to 02. It said it would be enabled 31/3/08 and indeed last night I received an email from O2 saying they are now live at my exchange.
How happy was I to ring up Pipex (even at 10p per minute) to ask for my MAC code? They didn't try to keep me as a customer - I think their staff know they are giving bad service and there is no point trying to talk somebody around. And anyway I wasn't going to let them try to talk me round when I was paying for the phone call.... it still took them 10 minutes to go through everything.
So just waiting for the MAC code to come through and hopefully I will be on 02 and a happy chappie again (and £7.50 per month better off).0 -

Just to say I had exactly the same experience leaving Pipex. No attempt whatsoever to persuade to stay (I wasn't staying anyway, but you'd think they'd try!)Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

I just called O2 to cancel my contract because they wouldn't give me a half decent mobile on my ancient tariff . One conversation with the retentions guy and I am now getting twice as many minutes and texts with them a brand new phone that was only released last month AND FREE BROADBAND FOR A YEAR. They are obviously allowed to give this away as a sweetener to retain customers so my advice for anyone on a contract would be to get phoning O2 retentions pretend you are annoyed about something/anything and want to leave and you will get it free . I was paying 17.99 a month with Tiscali so this is a hefty saving . :T0
