Well my poor Mum has been on the phone in tears this morning. She was due to have laminate flooring put in today. She had paid the floor man 2 weeks ago, after he came and looked at it and gave estimate etc. She asked him when he came if the floor needed levelling the bloke said no. Today when the sub contractor came, he took one look at it and said it DID need levelling and it would cost another £150. She paid him to do it which is a con because he has only done half the floor and has bal**ed that up. So after consoling her I have been in touch with Consumer direct to get advice on where to go from here.
I’m so annoyed, rogue trader or what? He knows she’s a pensioner on her own. Little does he know she has a daughter that won’t let things drop when she gets a bee in her bonnet! BEWARE!
Whinge over, phew feel better after that rant.
OS wise i have made pizza dough and sauce~ thats tea sorted. BM’s on with white roll dough for OH’S baggin.
Just looked back and this post resembles war and peace. oops!:p
HUGS if i didnt mention you. (dont want anyone feeling left out!)

No day doesnt seem to be getting any better:o
Well we went out - took DD to get new shoes - thought we'd get the same pair again in the next size up as she wears them without hassle! but the next size up was too big - and they didnt do that style in the slimmer fitting "E"dont know why clarks advertise as doing slimmer fittings as they only ever seem to do F & G fittings
Drove to another clarks shop to see what they had. Anyway had to resort to putting insoles in, either that or we had to buy black patent ones - which would only last one day before they were wrecked and scratched with my DD!
Didnt buy myself anything.
After that had to take her straight to ballet - just thought id show DH thru the door window so he could see DD doing her stuff - when got a sarcastic comment from someone standing quite away that she couldnt see now? she was no where near the door, infact she was eating something at the reception counter?!!! and we werent gonna stand there for long anyway!
Some people are so rude!
Came home got dinner ready and saga again with DD trying to get her to eat  Everything she does is hassle! I know she's my daughter but she's a complete pain the rear end! :wall:
I am absolutely useless at this SAH mother lark - keep thinking maybe i should go back to work and get out the wayor go chuck myself in a river somewhere!
You all so good at doing yr meal plans, baking this and that, knitting and whatever - I wish I was more like you lot.0 -
Evening all!
Just poking my nose in as I've been mega busy with things-work, life, Mum etc.
Trying to keep on the OS wagon as much as I can, although have been getting to bed really early without dinner as I've been too tired to even think some nights! But I'll get there. Am going to do some more bulk cooking at the weekend and make some home made ready meals to freeze-we'll def need those in the next week as I'll be super busy! Cannot wait til half term! Am really enjoying my job, but I'm still getting used to the hours, urgh.
Dinner tonight is hm bbq chicken with rice and veg.

morning all and bug hugs to those who need them specially shez - don't beat yourself up honey - all those holiday homes etc are probably on the never-never
well 'tis the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness and ..... hermans. There is a massive one in the bath which was there this am. dd had to fill the sink with water and keep passing me the flannel while i had a wash on the landing as I couldn't have a bath - when I told this story at w*rk they asked why i didn't have a wash in the kitchen or fill a bowl - d'oh - well it was first thing in the morning. Anyway it's still there and is too big and awkwardly situated for dd to move. there is also one under a jar in the kitchen which parachuted down in front of my eyes in an SAS stylee just while i WAS PLOTTING HOW TO GET RID OF THE OTHER ONE. - oops sorry caps lock.
Luckily exoh is coming round tonight and [strike]has been conned into[/strike] is very generously providing fish and chips after a conversation that went like this
I'm coming over tonight
oh you got the invite then
sigh - I mean is it all right for me to come over
ok - what time
tea time - what's for tea anyway
oh just some fridge debris soup out of the freezer
oh - don't worry i'll bring myself some fish and chips
ooh lovely don't forget mine and dd's
The One Woman Wash Your Clothes by Hand Challenge is soon at an end. my spindryer conked out the other night so badly that it blows all the sockets if I turn it on. one of the pipes inside is completely perished and while I could fix that I am worried that the socket-blowing thing is fatal. I have therefore decided to rent a machine and save up for a really good one at the same time - it's coming on tuesday so I am celebrating by booking a flexi day off which gives me a super long-weekend. Tomorrow am going to see Mano chao (sp?) at brixton with dbro and it's jeans for genes day at work so I won't even have to rush home to get changed. exoh is accidentally taking his newish gf to the same gig so I might get to meet her at last. Hark at me rambling away just cos there's no tea to cook.
have a good evening
ooh exoh just moved the big herman but insisted on bringing it to me first to show me because I accused him of dropping the last one - i've just had the screaming abdabsI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Just popped back on to say I've done next week's grocery shopping using the Tesco site. I used a tesco code (£10 off £30 grocery spend found on the tesco code thread on here) and bought £40 worth of shopping for only £30 and it included loads of Value stuff. I would have spent loads more than that and I was able to put stuff back, so that I stayed inside my budget. Plus I don't need to go shopping next week! :j
I thought it might help some of us on here who are trying to stick to our budgets.:rolleyes:0 -
