Wow I have just caught up on messages! Everyone is doing so well.

Belated birthday wishes Aesop and well done on all the freebies!

I too have started yoga... picked up a few books at the carboot sale and am hunting for decent you tube videos... i have a yoga dvd but find it hard to get silent moments from family and dogs... I no longer waste fuel going to the overpriced gym... or slimming world fees... BUT it means i need to watch my weight gain...

I am hoping to get selling on ebay tomorrow... have been doing DIY this week... leaky wooden doors... built some porches and put on waterproof layers... struggling with saving for new doors... so make do and mend!

No money making lately... I am due a cheque for tax refund from the scrapped car so am watching for the postman...

Went to a local music festival at the weekedn and seemed to empty my purse! We were not allowed to take food or drink in... (i smuggled a few things in) but basically we ended up spending £60 on food and drink (for 4 people) I was gutted as it means next weeks groceries will have to be on the visa card again :( I am spending today itemising my food stocks and writing menus... I was trying to switch to a vegan diet but it is far too expensive for 3 meat eaters and 1 vegan to buy appropriate foods.

In all a not very money making week... but I am going for a totally non spend day... which are rare around here!

    Good luck everyone x

6ft 2" husband who thinks he lives in a show home. HE runs his fingers over top of doors and tells me he is calling his mother???? She would be ashamed of me. He pulls the sofas out and says when was the last time YOU hoovered behind them... I'm calling my mother??????

That's just awful, Aesop:eek:. What does he expect his mother will do about it? Come round and help or come and give you a slap?

OH is a constant pain, always grumbling and complaining about something or other, but never where cleaning is concerned. To be honest, he contributes 99% of the mess in this house and seems totally oblivious to it. He's never cleaned anything in his life. I doubt he'd notice even if he had to stride over piles of dust or was able to write his name in the dust on surfaces (not that he's ever had to as I like to keep the place clean for my own benefit)

We had to replace some of our old upstairs windows last year and he insisted on some that 'he' can wash the outside of from inside. They are a style I dislike and they don't match any other windows in the house but he insisted as he said he wanted something easier for 'him' to cope with. Seeing as how he never washed the old ones in 30 years I was gobsmacked. Not that the outside windows hadn't been washed for 30 years of course, but I always risked my own life and limb trying to manage from inside. He hasn't done the new ones once since we got them either:eek:
  • Postman has been :) woohoo... So a car tax rebate cheque of £96.66 to pay in (which does mean a 40 min each way drive tomorrow to the bank! so i will have to stock up on Tesco reduced bin food and maybe have a trip to poundland...i don't get to town much as it is so far away) Also my lovely dad has sent me a much needed boost of £40...

I just instigated a few amazon returns (a vegan cookbook that it an overpriced pamphlet at best! and a phone case my son said is horrible... his nan is getting him a phone for secondary school so i am in charge of the case and sim card costs...)

added all together it looks like a nice amount...although weirdly my visa balance has actually gone up and my savings are at sub zero... not sure where this money actually goes! at least my purse has some pennies in it and someone somewhere is getting bills paid!

So my total is now £928.88... I am going to be cheeky and try to push past the grand mark for a cracking start to my return! fingers crossed...

now i am off to mow the lawn and harvest a few veggies for tea... might even plant some magic beans ;)

    Aesop and CarbootCrazy :heart2: :heart2:

I didn't think anyone had their judgy pants on. Besides, I'm a firm "walk in my shoes" advocate so anyone who is ironing starchy undercrackers and silently (or not) judging is welcome to do so, as long as they then come and blitz my kitchen and bathroom twice a month for me

You're right CarbootCrazy, the boys are growing up so damn fast, and my idea of quality family time is not doing housework and yet I love a clean and tidy house so why the devil not? I was umming and ahhing but the husband (6ft 4" here Aesop would lose a few inches if he threatened to ring his mother on me :p) is as much in favour of it as I am, maybe more. He knows and thankfully appreciates how much I do besides working and thinks a cleaner would be fab.

If the pennies work out as I'm hoping I'm going for it! :D:D

Woo! Well done. Just a quick thought, do you have a post office nearby? They will let you pay into a number of high street banks etc over their counter.
My (old) bank closed a few years ago so I took advantage of the post office counter for a while before finally switching banks. It might save you some petrol. x

Good idea, Nicki_Sue:T. I too have a very long drive to the nearest branch of my bank and I'm sorry to say I have never used the PO for paying in:o. Do you need some sort of paying-in slip from the bank to do it? My bank doesn't provide a paying-in book (or at least they don't for my Basic account), so I just download the paying-in page from my online banking account, fill it in online and post it off with the cheque. Takes a couple of days before it reaches them, plus the usual clearing time, but saves about £4 in petrol, plus parking costs more often than not as on-street parking in that town is a nightmare;)

Congratulations to everyone for money made so far:T and a big:beer: to help you on your way to the end of the month.

Kantankerus, it made me tired just reading about everything you managed to get done in your spare time:eek:. I really must do better:o

Just wanted to come on and do a few :j:j:j:j:j:j because I had a letter on Monday confirming acceptance of my PPI claim. It's a miracle I persisted with it as I never used to take out PPI and I've had a lifetime of loans and other credit agreements:o. Just had a gut feeling I just may have had it on this one from very early 2000 but the original claim was turned down a few months ago because my application gave so few details (as I didn't even know for sure I ever had the PPI in the first place:o)they could find no record of the account and I'd destroyed all my own paperwork years ago:mad:. They said they'd re-investigate if I could supply any documentation. Fat chance I thought:(.

I had to give it up but totally by chance I was leafing through a massive box of old genealogy paperwork prior to recycling and there among it was a solitary statement from 2001(goodness knows how that got in there) and it showed I did have PPI. I sent it off straight away and, miracle of miracles, I've now heard back in a surprisingly short time that they have investigated the claim and have awarded me £1458_party_:dance:

Won't get it until next month but I'm just so happy about it. Can't believe my luck, that old statement might never have seen the light of day if I'd just tipped the box into the recycling as I intended to do. I'd long since stopped actively searching for anything relevant about the claim.

Sorry to ramble on, wasn't going to mention all this until I actually received the money but I feel intoxicated and giddy at the moment and can't contain myself:rotfl:
