Pinch punch 1st of the month and welcome to 2018 :). Didn't make it to midnight last night and was curled up in bed by 11. Went to brother & his family today for dinner and it was so funny as they were so hungover. Dinner was a bit overcooked but couldn't fault them as it was so funny as they are usually so together :D. It was also more about spending time with my brother's family, OH and my Mum on New Years day.

OH is up in Belfast tomorrow so is taking me out to lunch...not sure why but I'm going with it. I need to chop up a pineapple for my breakfast and snacks tomorrow. Determined to spend as little as possible and build up a wee nest egg and a bit of preparation is key to all that.

    Thanks SS & HHD :).

I should be up dressed and getting ready for early train but I'm sitting at computer balancing the books because from about 1 minute ago I have paid my car loan :j. I also made a payment of £1040 to my credit card so it is now slightly less than £1000 but it is in 3 digits and not 4 :). It might not show up on my bank account for a few days but it's all updated on YNAB. The card payment is £40 more than I had planned so I've had to reduce the ordinary budgets to cover it so things might be a bit squeaky for a wee bit but soooo worth it :D

The car loan is paid 19 months early and I just need 2 more payments to CC and that will be gone.

I really have no other craic...I need to get into gear and catch the next train.

Hi Hidden, I start listening out towards the end of Feb for the F1 supplements in the papers to get ready for the exciting build up :).

So I couldn't contain myself with my payments and have moved money out of my emergency fund which is now empty and also out of annual bills to make another payment to my credit card so it is now sitting at £500. I better not have an emergency for a wee while. My first big annual bill is my car insurance for mid March but I should have 2 more salaries to fill it up again.

1 more credit card payment to go....I shouldn't wish my life away but come on Feb!!:D

I went for lunch with OH today ...he invited me out and we split the bill which is a bit of a surprise (kind of got used to him paying). Then a card came in the post with £2 postage due ....curiosity killed the cat so I have paid it. Final payment was a recommended ED book for £3.98 (2nd hand). OK unexpected spends but not frittering:)

I made a lovely (here's hoping) vegetarian lasagne for later tonight and even though I cut the ingredients down for 2 people it looks like there will be enough to take for my lunch and OH for the next couple of days. It would have been huge if I had chucked in the rest of the veg :).

The winds are starting to build now so Storm Eleanor musn't be far away but I don't think we are due to get it that badly. Hope it misses you all.
  • Great news on the car loan and the credit cards :). Does that mean you'll be debt free in February?

    Morning:)

I am on the train dressed like a bag lady as I’ve decided to go for run before work. My bag is hopefully packed with my breakfast, lunch and work clothes. It’s too dark to run at home so hopefully starting a routine to run at work ..but it requires preparation which is my downfall:o.

Stopped at Asda yesterday to stock up on fruit, veg, chicken etc - I was surprised how empty the shelves were for fruit & veg so I guess everyone is on a New Years health kick:).

Next stop is mine and it is very wet out there.. I’m in my running gear so no excuses:D
