I thought Madonna was, er, not the best. I also don't think we deserved to be right at the bottom and I really didn't like Italy's one but then that kind of music has never really been my cup of tea.
In other news, Josh has handed in his dissertation, has one more assignment left before he finishes but doesn't want to come home as his social life is there and he also doesn't want to bother with his graduation ceremony due to cost, hassle factor and never really gelling with others in his current year group. He also received amazing feedback from one of his lecturers on the final year performance, where in typical Josh fashion, he left it until the last year to really show what he was capable of musically...just as he had done at high school!
Joe had a frustrating module, ending up just 0.3 percent short of a first in it! We're currently working on the how to get him home conundrum, James and GF have offered but they have a micra…..
Just an observation....... in later years he might regret not attending a graduation ceremony, and getting the photo taken in all the gear, etc.
It doesn't have to be a flamboyant thing ...it can be kept quite intimate with just family: the ceremony, the photos, and that's it.
Worth reconsidering?
Re. Eurovision. I started watching it, but after five or six songs I was so bored I changed channels.
There's something about the sound quality of these affairs that is really missing a trick...i.e. It was awful.
None of the songs made me want to carry on watching either.
Plus ça change.........(I just lurve spiders!)

I've been away on hols. We got home at about 0300 on Sunday morning, brushed our teeth and fell into bed. Nice enough holiday (a hotel we stayed at last year, so we knew the food was good and the bed comfy), a resort we like, but it took us a couple of days to recover from the journey, and the same on the way back.
Still dealing with the post-holiday laundryand brain still even less in gear than usual.
I'm sure that at some point on the outward flight, desperately trying to get comfortable, I growled to OH "I am never, ever, doing this again!"0 -

I've tried to convince him twice now but it is a no go. At his university, it is just the ceremony, there are no other parties or after ceremony drink things anyway.
The family thing is a big issue. James also didn't go to his graduation ceremony, partly because of the cost of getting there and back for all of us but also because of the issues with his dad and the same is an issue for Josh. They have both been worried about me getting it in the neck for him not being invited to attend (they absolutely, 100% do not/did not want him to be there).
Before James pulled out of his ceremony (he had initially confirmed his attendance and paid for additional tickets for those he did want to attend and arranged gown hire), my ex mother in law got wind of firstly there was going to be a ceremony and secondly that ex hubby was not invited and it started to rumble a bit and she was threatening to go off on one.
Anyway, I now have two graduation outfits going spare :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Noise can be a real issue in flats, as can parking. Band E sounds expensive for a flat.
Re the garage, does it have power? It is one thing to have one, but another for it to be fully useful.
Where would you do the bits and pieces that you wanted a shed/outhouse for?
How would OCD cope with the attitudes of others to risk avoidance (eg they do something in a way that you consider dangerous). Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? If it is in a good place, what mechanism is there for stopping every Tom !!!! and Harry visiting the area parking in the communal space and upping the annoyance that you already feel re parking? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I'm having several dilemmas and trying to nail what I really, really want.
I hope you're finding it helpful to air your concerns here. You have struck me as very very organised in your search, but perhaps you have drawn a blank because the money available does not cover all your criteria in the area you want to live in? You have said as much.
Logically, then, you need to relax some of your criteria. Plus, I think some of these criteria are almost in conflict with each other. For example, you want to be within walking distance of the shops, but you don't want it to be noisy.
I know you like your current area and chose it carefully, but would it help to look more widely? Perhaps further from the coast, as I think property tends to be cheaper further inland?
Perhaps you can reduce the priority of some of your criteria? You are worried about the cost of roofing work, so you prefer a bungalow, as you can then do some of the work yourself. However, a bungalow has roughly twice as much roof to go wrong as a two storey house of the same area. Leaves are more likely in a bungalow gutter, as it's lower. Etc. So, maybe that's in reality less of a priority than you currently think it is?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Absolutely certain that neighbours in a flat will f*ck you off after not too long.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0

Out of interest, could you critique this one, please? Just to get an idea of what you are looking for.

I think flats are risky.
Parent is in a flat in a small block. 2 years ago all the neighbours got on and looked out for each other. Since then 2 flats have changed hands and the new occupants have caused major problems and issues for other residents. Peaceful atmosphere has been destroyed.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
