I voted today. The first time I've gone to vote and not really known who to vote for.

    Yup, I went this morning.

I had to do a lot of online research in order to decide which candidate, but I was able to choose one that I was happy with, one who is the present incumbent and a member of a party I am happy to vote for in the current circumstances.

What is the point with the majority of candidates standing for a position and then not having an easily accessible website or something where you can read up about them?

It happened in the local elections two weeks ago as well.

    Infuriating.

Big op on Monday week, removal of most of my colon. As soon as I've recovered from that, I have to have a second op for something else.

Not a happy bunny. I'd much prefer to be tagged. That made me smile, although I'm not smiling a lot at the moment.

Updating my will. Power of attorney. Make a list of passwords and where everything is. So much paperwork!

    Oh goodness GDB! :(:(:(

    Big hugs. ((((((((((((((((((GDB)))))))))))))))))))))))

    .. Monday week..
    :(

This NP's thoughts are with you and will be with you every hour of every day.

I'm sure the others feel the same.

They say people shouldn't tell people they're brave, because, the reality is, people are bricking it .... and it doesn't help that they feel "forced" to grin/smile and say "Yeah" if that's not what they're feeling.

It's OK to be scared/miserable - and it's especially OK to just post any random thoughts here just to get rid of stuff in your head if that helps. I do that .... all the time.

Difficult enough to decide on a party. Then I found a website that predicted the number of seats for each party. So the party I was looking at has one seat in the bag and a second seat unlikely but possible. So really I'm looking at their second candidate to see if I could vote for them. Can't find anything much on their opinions on anything particularly interesting. So I've voted for them on the basis of the party's view on brexit, given this is an EU election.

Probably find out now that their hold odd views on some things that I consider important, but not much else I can do.

First time I have voted against the party I would usually support, I do feel a bit of a traitor. But now I've done it once I'm a swing voter.

The PR system is weird, if you want to vote for a certain position you might have 2 or 3 candidates who represent that position and would then need to judge how they might do to decide.

EG if you want to cast a remain vote in an area where the lib dems are likely to get a seat you might well be better voting green or change uk as they might then get a seat as well whereas the odds of the LDs getting a second might be minimal.
    I think....

There should be a website that tells people how to vote based on what you've just said. I'd have found it useful.

Oh GDB I'm so sorry to hear that. Good idea about Will, PoA and password stuff. Less to worry about I think? But hard to do. Hugs.

I'll be thinking of you, and sending you "The Vibes". I've always found knowing "The Vibes" being sent has got me through difficult situations, though none as bad as you describe.

In the meantime I'm sending you cyber hugs and love from Wales.

    Start with:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-27187434

Yes it really is that bizarre

    Then try these:

    https://www.politics.co.uk/comment-analysis/2019/05/22/the-remain-strategy-region-by-region-voting-guide
    https://ukandeu.ac.uk/eu-elections-voting-system-explained-dhondt-worry/

which shows what a big difference the 'constituency' sizes can make
    I think....
