Yes, but you are anonymous. No one is going to recognise you in the street.

Well, I'm just guessing at where the water's coming from to be honest.... I don't fancy poking my fingers around in the ugly undersides to feel for wet bits :) That's definitely a blokey job .... *chortle*.

    It's not hot water.
    It's very occasional.

It's scarey to call somebody in case "it's nothing" .... and you get billed a fortune :)

Although the man who did the service only charged £45, which seemed "reasonable".

If it's definitely on the cold water side, it's probably not dangerous. It's not going to get better on its own though.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It's a bit odd that it only happens when you use the sink.

I'm at a loss to understand why using the sink should anger the boiler into spitting at you.
It is a very strange sort of cause and effect.

Or is it that you only notice it when you are using the sink?

Very reasonable - mine last month, in supposedly a "poorer" area was £65

If I've read correctly, it's not just when she's using the sink but when she's actually running hot water and occasionally when the heating's on - so it sounds like a connection somewhere in the hot water circuit isn't quite as tight as it ought to be and with the heat expansion lets a little water out or a relief valve is seeing a higher pressure than it likes.

PN, does it do it if you run hot water in the bathroom?

I think the tipping cold water down the sink at the same time is a red herring TBH, that can only be coincidental. The only connection that could go to the domestic drain is the condenser drain, which is IIRC only letting out any water that was in the air and is not under pressure. They usually vent to the outside of the building but can go to a drain - when I had one installed in my flat's loft, they ran the condenser outlet into the (internal) soil pipe but the pressure relief outlet went through the wall to outside.

    24 hour opening.

I've never lived near a supermarket that opened 24 hours. I've been aware of them in the past - and even been to one, but that was about 20 miles from my house....

I've just been idly googling some opening times of shops etc and noticed that, certainly in this county, they seem to no longer exist. There's a "big Asda" about 8 miles from me and its hours are 6am to midnight.

It's not something you'd notice unless you regularly availed yourself of their shelves at 2am .... or knew somebody who moaned they couldn't do it any more.

Do they still have 24 hour shopping in the counties of NPs?

Yep still have a few here. Well I say here, it's 12 miles up the road. It was incredibly handy when I was working evenings and my work was almost there, I used to go once a week and get the weekly shop in.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Yes. Our very big Tesco is open 24hrs. Allegedly they occasionally restrict payment to self scanners only in the small hours, so not sure how well staffed it is.

Property auction at noon today. I'm out unfortunately, if anyone is watching it and catches the price of #20, I'm very curious what it fetches.

Zoopla reckons £1.653m, but that will be inflated by properties nearby having being done up and sold on over the years, whereas this one is in a relatively untouched state. Also someone has plugged the details into zoopla which always inflates their estimate.

Was on the market for £1.4m in 2014 but didn't sell.

I started a thread in case anyone else is watching forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?p=75452259

I might dip in and see how it went on. I presume, from your interest, it's "just like your house, but yours is better" :)

Looking at that plot size.... you'd get at least a dozen 2-3 bed houses on there easily round this way. Possibly 15 or so.... or more.

There's a "bizarre house" I spotted that was for sale ... it was nearly completion of new build and started off at £400k, then dropped to £300k (came onto my radar) - and I looked at it and its location and thought "how very bizarre".... the layout was most peculiar, it was "all wrong" and the space could've been done much better.... and I then figured they probably ran out of money/enthusiasm as the build progressed and downgraded it and all its planned posh fittings, thus dropping the price to £300k to get rid of it quickly.... and then it appeared at auction at "Guide £230k".

So I'll be watching that one myself, I think it's next week.

I thought the house was "interesting if one had the skills/budget to knock it about a bit and get the layout right", but they really had c0cked up just about everything about it.....

There's a Tesco very close to me that is 24 hours, but as I never shop in Tesco's, I'm not bothered.

I used a 24 hour Sainsbury when I was working in London....used to go about 4 in the morning.

The big snag was that there were cages full of stuff everywhere, so it was hard to get round with a trolley, and half the shelves were awaiting being restocked, so a lot of times I came away with only half my list.

Also, at that time, alcohol purchases were still restricted to certain times of day, so I'd have to go back for that anyway. It all became a bit of a hassle in the end.

I'm much more likely to go very early in the morning. My local ones open at 07:00, and that's a great time, because I can miss the traffic, get parked easily, and the store is peaceful. I can be back home before the school run has started!
On a Saturday, it's even more peaceful on the roads and car park!
