I drive past some primary schools on my way to work.
The parents either carry the scooters back home or the less inhibited ones get on the scooters and ride them back, avoiding everybody's gaze. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

DH & I were talking about this kind of thing last night, and reminiscing about how, when the children didn't want to walk somewhere, we'd get them (and us) to hop instead, and didn't care who was looking.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Here they've got both and bikes! And they'll use both at the same time. These particular girls are probably a bit older than I think... I'm useless at kids' ages. They're probably 13-14... so a "bit old for scooters as they think skates look cooler".
Here you quite often see the younger kids, aged 8-10 or so, wearing their skates and using their scooters.... if there's a group of, say, 6 kids, there'll typically be 3-4 wearing skates, 3 bikes abandoned around and 3-4 scooters being used/lying around.
Yesterday, the gaggle-of-4 were out just about 45 minutes... "better things to do" at their age, like sit and talk about pop stars I guess, or walking somewhere where they might see boys .... whereas a group of 8-10 year olds can be kicking around for up to 7-8 hours if they're the sort who "are never taken anywhere" and, having gathered together, continue to hang around because they've nowhere else they're being taken to or allowed to wander off to, beyond traffic-mithering out on the main road. At 8-10 they have the "wandering permission" of about 100 yards.... and the ones that come/turn up are closer to 10-11, who have "wandering permission" of about 400 yards so walk over from the estate up the road (to see funny girl... but hopefully no longer).
I suppose it's like "Would you buy a house right next door to, with a wooden fence adjoining, a playground with a tarmac area?" - and most would say "Hell, no way!"0 -

Surprisingly easy to read!
Yes! Isn't it? Amazing what the old brain can do. Just as being able to read words with most of the letters missing. Or is it with all the vowels missing? Whatever!
I don't know why the Ls and Ts are slightly off line, though. That's how they come out.(I just lurve spiders!)
