Are these (and the others) really real books?

Particulalry intriguing are "How to sharpen pencils" and "How to poo on a date".

Going back to "houses round the back"... as I am not in a position to buy anything at the moment I simply look at all houses in my budget, without prejudging them too much .... just to see, in case I dismiss something too early.

While I've no objection in principle to living in a house "round the back", ideally I'd want to be on a street with "regular/proper neighbours". When you're "round the back" you really need to be out a lot and live with others, else you're just tucked away, hidden, isolated. You're not part of the street scene - you can't look out of the windows/up the road and see what's going on, you can't look out the windows and wait for a person/delivery to arrive.... your pizza could be going up and down the road not finding you :)

If you're "round the back" you're in a bit of a self-bubble.... which is fine if you've others with you and stuff going on, but if you sat "round the back" alone for long enough, without seeing passing traffic, or pedestrians, the person that always walks their dog, the postman, deliveries, etc, then "the community is passing you by", you've nothing to look at....

It's not my preferred location... but price/availability dictates what we can buy and in my budget quite a lot of places are "tucked up the back".

If you were, say, home alone with a broken leg - able only to sit by a window - what'd you see from the window of a "tucked up the back" house? Bugg4h all... that's what you see from there.

EDIT: And another thing ... if your access is just a path, or narrow strip, round to your house, then that access might need to be "defended"... so that's another issue to think about. "Defended" from people parking/blocking it, through to kids thinking it a great spot to kick a ball about in as it's "off the road". It's all more to think about.... the open/availability of your owned/access land and the seemingly careless way other people disregard the fact it's not theirs to use how they wish. That access point might be "out of sight" to you from the house too.

    Here it is.
Go here, then go up in the sky and you should be able to see it.

Getting access from anywhere, even across the garden with the trampoline from the garage block would add to the value.

You would never get planning permission for that around here!

Compared to many I've seen, that example is "very generous" in its plot. Very generous indeed. Many are up an alleyway and have just 3-4' round them. At least this one's got a garden! It's on at £250k. If it were on the street I'd have expected to see an asking price of closer to £300k. £280k for what it is, £300k because it's newish/shiny.

Possible reply 1: Other dried fruits are available, prunes and figs are said to be particularly effective
Possible reply 2: I have heard tell of films of that
    I think....

There is something nice about sharpening pencils isn't there... with a penknife, or a good sharpener.

Pretty much every other house on that little stretch seems to have good options for access and yet that is the only one that has built in the garden....

I am surprised that the original house has enough remaining 'amenity space' to satisfy the planners.
    I think....
