Somebody selling a flat in a "nice area" that's not even got it on the market yet; agent's allegedly going over to hers after mine to give her a valuation.
Won't bust a gut with the viewing prep then

Thanks!
I hadn't realised the person who booked the viewing was the same person who was getting the agent to give her a valuation.(I just lurve spiders!)

How long does it take before you're irritated by a neighbour's banging gate? It's about 50' from where I'm sitting.
This sort of gate: https://www.uk-timber.co.uk/1251-large_default/softwood-featheredge-gate.jpg
Just so you know how big it is/what sort.
It's banging .... about every 30-40 seconds...0 -

Perhaps they are out.
Could you shut it easily?
Banging is annoying. Last night I knew my green bin had fallen onto my side gate, but the wind kept lifting and dropping it, so it kept banging against the gate, but as I was in bed, and it was drenching down with winds that nearly rivalled those of '87, there was no way I was going out in that.(I just lurve spiders!)

They weren't out. Child home alone - the one that left it banging.... after she'd been sitting on top of it, then in/out with all her mates in tow, screaming and hollering....
I could shut it, but the heavens opened and there was a huge deluge... and I'd not feel "comfortable" shutting somebody else's gate, especially if I knew they were in.
It was shut about 2 minutes after I typed my post.
It'd been banging for well over 1½ hours.0 -
This weekend is a freebie FMP and ANC.
I just managed to get a photo of my GG-grandfather's brother from the newspapers on FMP (which are RARELY on a free weekend ever).
He was only in the newspapers as he got away with lying about his age.... once he got to be 100 there was great interest in him ... he died aged 104. Only he wasn't at all - he was only 84 really.
He was in the workhouse and sometime between 1901 Census and 1911 Census he twigged that if you're 100 you get presents/freebies ....
1901C he was 81.
1911C he was 103.
I've back checked all his ages, further "evidence" and his baptism .... and he just lied. He was baptised when he should've been, when newly born. His story was that he was baptised aged 13. I know he wasn't. The kids were baptised in order. His parents put the kids in age order in the Censuses. In one Census he was living with his brother, who also would've known his age and if he were older/younger than him.... and all the ages and everything add up until 1901 ... when he started lying.0 -
Glad it gets dark soon... had "enough" this weekend with screaming neighbours. Three out there right now, hollering tops of their voices (aged about 10 to 14)... skating round... and round ... and shouting, hollering, squealing ..... relentless they are.
Sitting indoors being able to hear constant squeals/shouts and bangs on fences etc is most upsetting/disconcerting and it causes severe anxiety as you're never sure if more have joined them ... or if they've decided to "cross a line"... or if they will do shortly. At least these three are "reasonably OK/trustworthy not to be really annoying" you can't predict when somebody/others will join them.
Roll on dark time....0 -
I am completely and totally fed up. We have had fireworks here everynight since before Bonfire night. Diwali was on Wednesday last week and tonight there are still people letting off fireworks. I am so fed up with the disrespect shown by people doing this today of all days. I am going to have a go at getting fireworks banned for sale to members of the public and only available for public display. We have people here letting off category 4 fireworks in their back gardens no idea how they managed to buy them. It is illegal to buy them and to sell them. I know they are category 4 by the amount of noise they make and the type. A few days ago someone let off category 4 fireworks that were so loud that they drowned out the sound of our television in a double glazed house.
We have photos here of local parks full of discarded fireworks packaging that has just been left after illegal displays. The packaging doesn't match the photos of the fireworks on legitimate websites so it looks as if they were counterfeit as well. All we need is people letting off hundreds of counterfeit fireworks in public parks and then leaving their rubbish behind. There was burnt packaging and bits of sharp metal left all over the park just waiting to be picked up by dogs or small children.
It is time the walrus said to get a ban on buying fireworks by members of the public. There is a petition that I have already signed but to say that I am fed up with it is an understatement. There are still fireworks going off now. How anybody could be so selfish to let off fireworks and disturb their neighbours AGAIN today when we are having a national day of Remembrance is beyond me. I hadn't realised how many nasty, selfish, disrespectful people lived in my local community but having been out and photographed their fireworks on my phone I have a very good idea of where they live and they should all know better.
I am going to write to my MP which probably a complete waste of time because he is probably the most useless MP in parliament and still people vote for him (not me) and my local council. Enough is enough. I no longer care about Bonfire night or Diwali. The minority have spoiled it for everyone else.0 -
We are still getting fireworks set off locally. I just heard some 5 minutes ago. Fortunately, this year has not been so loud. Last year, it sounded like a war was going on.
Sometimes, people start setting them off at midnight, which seems rather unfair. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
As I'm always complaining about fireworks myself, I'm slightly pleased that this year, the zag family canine companion seems fractionally less frantic about the festivities.
