I agree they are anti-social and I'm not sure why the councils don't bother to enforce the usual rules on noise nuisance. WE have some locally who seem to decide any random party needs to end with fireworks at 11 or midnight but it is normally only a couple of times a year outside the current 2 weeks.

Personally I can not imagine why anyone would want to spend hard earned money on a brief flash and bang, if you were into fireworks surely you get much better value for money watching an organised display?

My only thought is that saying 'we need more restrictions on sale' whilst at the same time saying the current restrictions are having no impact sounds counter-productive....
    I think....

I quite like fireworks that go bang. But the bangs seem to have got louder, and go on for longer.
There used to be someone who lived near here. It's a rural area and this person was about a quarter of a mile away from us. At any time they felt like having a party, it used to sound as if a full scale battle was being fought for up to an hour. Must have cost a lot.
It's not reasonable here where there isn't a great density of population. Totally insane in a suburban garden I'd have thought.

What we have got here where I live is that experience only not one a quarter of a mile away but lots of different houses all within about a quarter of a mile and it has been going on for nearly two weeks now. It started yesterday before it had even got dark and continued until around 10pm. So for us what sounds like a full scale battle every night now for about 2 weeks all night until about 10pm. It is extremely unpleasant. It is quite simply anti-social behaviour.

Agreed. It's the difference between an occasional nuisance, and ongoing anti-social activity.
Back when I was a kid the bangs from the ordinary fireworks available to the public weren't nearly as loud. And of course it was basically one night a year on the 5th November.

While I love to see the fireworks going off from my window on Nov 5 I hate the way they are set off all over the place by kids. And for so long. Too many nights full of bangers.

Younger daughter's cat was killed on the road in front of our house after being scared by bangers set off by local kids. She (and we) was heartbroken. She'd had him from kittenhood, he loved her, he didn't mind being grabbed by her when she was little. He was such a sweet natured cat.

It's time to control sale of fireworks more - really getting out of hand, year by year gets worse.

Hope all goes fine today Sue x

Re firework noise - our council no longer appears to have an environmental health officer to deal with antisocial noise, there's certainly no mention of such a service on the website any more.

ITU bed is available, hopefully going to theatre in the next hour or so.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
