I had two colonoscopies in October. So far, they have removed part of one polyp. I am due another colonoscopy next month some time to continue the process. I do get the feeling that there may be no end to it.

I haven't had the biopsy results, but I assume they would have contacted me by now if there is a malignancy.

I read somewhere that 30% of the population have polyps by the time they are 60.

My sister had a polyp removed that turned out to be pre-cancerous, so lucky it was removed. Apparently the average pre-cancerous polyp takes 10 years to turn. (Even then they take time to spread, so removing is the key).

3 colonscopies in a short time is draining, I guess they know what they are doing, but you would have thought that they could do everything they needed while they were on site.

    Hope your results are clear.

Not much has been going on in my neck of the woods...go to work, come home, go to bed, rinse and repeat.

Still no new operation date for dad, he is now getting very low believing that he has been forgotten about again. Mind you, both him and mum have benefited from a little rest and a break from all the stress. Mum finally had her procedure done last Saturday, one polyp removed (and sent for testing) and diverticular diagnosed, she's relieved but still feeling quite washed out from it all.

I've been around on MSE and after reading lots of mortgage free threads (I'm weird, I get a thrill from reading about people doing well and paying down their mortgages, I'm the same on the debt free wannabee board too), started doing surveys again to try to boost my income a little...already got my first Amazon voucher ready for Christmas.

Talking about savings, I am so proud of myself. I've managed to save the equivalent of a week of wages by putting my odd coins in a jar daily and then on a Thursday before collecting my wages, emptying my purse into the savings pot. It's not a lot (I have an alternating rota, a short week and a long week. A short week is worth just shy of £50, a long week is just over £90..I've currently saved the equivalent of slightly over a short week), bearing in mind the amounts involved, I'm really quite chuffed.

It's amazing how much can be saved from small change!

I usually empty my purse of change after shopping, as the weight of coins in a purse makes my shoulder bag pull on my neck. I have four money boxes for different coins.

    It's time I emptied them.

I like counting all the money by hand. It's quite therapeutic, and nice seeing all the piles of coins build up. It makes me feel like Scrooge in his counting house!
The only one that is a pain is the penny coin......... it takes forever to count up just two or three pounds!

Then when I've changed it all at the bank, I treat myself to something!

Several years ago, I used to save pound coins too, but they tend to get filched now for the window cleaner money, and for Zumba classes, and for carparking money. When I did save them, I had a lot of money very quickly!

    Your hands get filthy, though!

Often they don't give any symptoms, which is why there is a national bowel screening programme.

If there are symptoms, they can be any of the symptoms connected to that area: change in bowel habits, blood, diahorrhea, constipation, urgent need to go.....

Most polyps are harmless, but some are not and some are only harmful if left for years.

Old neighbour was screened at a young age due to family history and they found 300 polyps and he had no symptons. 300 is a cause for concern!

I taxed my car with coppers saved in a gallon whisky bottle a couple of times.
Don't get so many coppers nowadays, probably a good thing as they'd be unlikely to stretch anywhere close to car VED now.

By the Bowel Screening Programme, do you mean the invitation to send off a stool sample for analysis?
If so, then I always take part in that.

I'm up for any health screens that are on offer! :D

Additional scope screening has now been introduced at the age of 55, this is going to be reduced to age 50 over the next few years.

That's interesting. I've never been offered any bowel scope screening, just the faecal occult blood screens.

It's being phased in. It does mean that certain age groups miss out because a test wasn't offered when they were a certain age.

In Canada and America, everyone is advised to have a full colonoscopy around the age of 50-55. Both as a prevention measure and to establish a base line for any future changes.

In this country, if you see a consultant privately they will usually say you should have a colonoscopy if you haven't had one before. The NHS screening programme is not the gold standard of treatment.

Sorry, I tend to rant about this having lost a parent to bowel cancer.

Does anyone remember this film? I don't.

Just thought it might be a good thing to show on TV around this time.
    (Note the bolder bit).

    "Remembrance" (1982 film)

    QUOTE from Wiki:
Remembrance is a British ensemble drama about Royal Navy ratings of HMS Raleigh, who are about to embark on a six-month naval exercise.
The film is noteworthy for early appearances of several well-known British actors, including Timothy Spall, Lisa Maxwell and John Altman, and it was Gary Oldman's film debut.[2][3].
It was an early production from Channel Four Films and was shown in the first week of Channel 4 broadcasting[4].
It was also one of the first films in the UK to be shown on television less than three years after its initial cinema release (a delay enforced at the time by the Cinema Exhibitors' Association)[5].

    Plot

The film does not have a simple plot, but rather cuts between the interweaving stories of several characters, as they prepare for the coming months away at sea.
The action centres around the bars and clubs of the Union Street district of Plymouth.
One major event that affects all the characters is the hospitalisation, and eventual death, of Daniel (Gary Oldman) after a violent assault by a nightclub bouncer.
