Sue, I have no idea how Motability works. I noticed a Ford B Max for sale locally for £6k, 5 years old with only 15k miles. I have no idea whether that's cheap - probably not - but it's very low mileage. Can you get secondhand cars on the Motability scheme?
Edit: The B is Fiesta sized, whereas you probably prefer/need the C, which is based on the Focus.
Unfortunately not.
The C max was ok ish but the boot was definitely on the small side. Saw a car I quite liked today, Hyundai Ionic, a hybrid car and only £299 advance payment. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Ah, but you see I have used everything I bought!
With the exception of the dressed dolls....... I bought the case for the case, with the intention to pass on the dolls, but then decided to keep them , and so they live in the case! .... and I still like them, because I remember collecting two or three when I was a child!
And they have a certain collectable value. They're probably worth a total of between £30 and £50 if I sold them individually.
I use the mirror every day, (and that's probably worth £50), the chair occasionally, the half-pint glasses all the time (the ones that remain, as they got used so much, they gradually got dropped), and the garden pot is in use.
The hamster cage got used for a damaged bird I found in the garden and nursed back to health (on the advice of the vet). Evemtually, that did go rusty, but it's still in the garden with a collection of sticks in it!(It's one of those tall ones).
The suitcases,I did use two or three times, then they got used to store stuff in the loft, then the zips broke, so they went back to the tip!
But I'd got my money's worth out of them!(I just lurve spiders!)

Car names are getting weirderer and weirderer!
Soon we might get an Alfa Asthmatic! :rotfl:
Or a Ford Fatuous.
And a Peugeot Platonic.
Or a Mercedes Meticulous.
And a Toyota Titanic. (Although that name might not go down too well). (Or rather, it will! :rotfl:)(I just lurve spiders!)

One question from nowhere: How is it than pots are so expensive?
Garden/flower pots.... (terracotta/similar)
Even when you see them at car boots or garage sales they're still an arm and a leg. You never see signs "Large Garden Flowerpots, £1 Each" ....
Why not?0 -

If they are frostproof, they'll be more expensive.
If they're cheap, chances are they'll start flaking after the first winter.
(Can't think of the correct word).
Also, by it's very nature, there's quite a lot of wastage in making them, and the bigger the pots, the greater the wastage, as more will break, either on firing, or on handling.(I just lurve spiders!)

The problem that the manufacturers have is coming up with names that can be used globally without causing "issues" in some countries.
For example, Chevvy didn't do too well trying to flog the Nova in Mexico, or other Spanish speaking countries - No va, geddit?
Likewise, Toyota had to change the name of their little sports car for French speaking countries - M R Deux, uh uh.
Hence, we get wierd names.0 -

Even plastic ones are at least an arm or a leg.
I wanted some ready for putting my greenhouse plants in next year, instead of using growbags, which I wasn't too impressed with this year.
I think the cheapest decent size pots I found were a bit north of a fiver each - so I've gone for builder's buckets at 99p each. It's not as if the plants are going to be able to tell the difference once I've drilled some drainage holes0 -
