My ipad turns everything red at night, so the green curtains looked grey. It's a feature to help me sleep.
Having switched that off, I can see the green colour. It's not a good colour to sell a house, I fear, but I'm a man, and consequently my taste can be disregarded.
I'm "like a bloke" when it comes to this stuff too... for me I don't care if things match etc, so long as they do a job. I spent weeks choosing the current curtains, minute I put them up I realised they were awful in this room.... *shrugs*. Never tried to buy curtains before, just always made do with hand-me-downs ... so a bit annoying that I got it wrong.
Trouble is, until you've got something up and sat back and stared you don't know if they'll look rubbish or not....
I've now decided: Pfft b4lls to it; I won't bother to look for new curtains, if I stumble across some then I'll get them, but it's off the list of "important" and relegated to "nice to do if possible"
The current living room is entirely kitted out with everything for a total of WELL under £200, possibly under £150... that's for everything... I did get rid of the completely mismatched and cr4ppy stuff and buy that new unit that I built .... so it's definitely presentable now, and doesn't look like a lean to of the charity shop.

Yes, and it's still dark at 5am!
In June it was light at 4.30.am
Days are shortening.
I think we should push the months on by one, so that July 21 is the longest day......it would feel more like summer then.
And January can have the shortest day. It's usually more wintry in January than December.
Ok, so in order to achieve that, we'd have to 'lose' a month in the first year, but if the Georgians can cope with losing 11days, I'm sure that we, with our greater understanding, could cope with losing a month!(I just lurve spiders!)

Loving the idea that changing the calendar would make the extremes of temperature coincide with the extremes of length of day.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

No!
If we were, most of this forum would disappear! Probably in a puff of (dubiously-scented) smoke! :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

I want to move somewhere where the days are 16 hours long all year round. I fear that means living on a ship, though. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

My retched house strikes again.
Had the surveyor and contractor out for a visit for the proposed adaptations and it didn't go to plan.
1. They can't do the access ramp as the OT wanted as it would require planning permission and they believe there would be an objection that would hold things up. The idea of someone objecting came about because as soon as my neighbour realised someone was in my garden, he was out snouting, listening to their conversation and being a little intimidating. It really put the heebies up them.
The new proposed route of the ramp is now past my front room window and then down using the existing path which would be widened to suit, no planning permission required doing it that way.
2. The front door is an issue. The OT wanted a widened door with level access. The level access is not an issue, the widened doorway is as on one side, is a structural thing that would impact on the integrity of the building (it's a prefab house) and the other way is the wall to my front room. The sort of solution is to try to find the narrowest of door surrounds in the hope it will give us an extra 50mm....not enough to enable my wheelchair through.
The other issue with a widened door here is the bottom of the stairs, they are too close to the front door and a significantly widened door would bang up against them.
3. Bathroom - an asbestos soil stack.
This will have to be removed not only from my bathroom but also my kitchen by a specialist team which pushes the costs up. Removal however, will free up some much needed space.
4. Bathroom - widened door with level access.
They don't believe the door identified by the OT to be widened is possible due to it then connecting with the toilet when opened. They proposed blocking that door up and instead widening the bathroom door (which was the doorway that was earmarked to be blocked up). Level access is not an issue.
5. Bathroom - size
They are deeply concerned that even with the two rooms knocked into one that it will not be big enough to accommodate a big enough wet room area and the wet dry toilet with a wheelchair.
6. Complaints
Due to how the neighbour behaved whilst they were here, they were concerned that even though no work will be taking place involving the party wall, they will be touching it or at least, be working very close to it and that brings the potential for complaints and objections that will lead to a downing of tools until peace talks can be concluded potentially leaving me without toilet or wash facilities for a lengthy period of time whilst things are smoothed over.
7. Cost
Cost of the works are estimated at approx. £20k. This wouldn't be an issue if it gave good provision but they are concerned that the council would not see the works as providing good provision for the future due to the size of the property and that they may indeed think a better way forward is for me to move to a bungalow.
They've now gone back to the OT to see if she has some suggestions. I've got a few which I wish I had come up with when they were here but I had unfortunately stood for too long when we were discussing the ramp and seized up, collapsed and wasn't really compos mentis for a few hours. Josh had to take over showing them around in between checking that I was ok, so his mind was elsewhere too.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
