I saw an "interestingly slightly different" lamp today - I wasn't looking, just strolled past it. It looked like a lamp on a fat bit of rope - but the rope was actually just twisted round the upright bar.

£59 though! Better to get one for £5-8 and a big ball of fat twine and do it yourself :)

Possibly the least cool man in the World?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-45150298

German police have come to the rescue of a man being chased by a baby squirrel.

Officers in the south-western city of Karlsruhe responded to the call for help and arrived to see the creature still terrorising the caller.

The squirrel was taken into custody after it abruptly fell asleep.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

OMG laugh? Where are the tissues? :rotfl:
And it's a red squirrel, too.

Ok, I know they can be aggressive, but.......

What next? "Man taken hostage by hamster"?

How would you drill the hole up the middle of the rope though? :p

I saw the article earlier and that particular line made me chuckle ;)

Apparently, if lost or orphaned, baby squirrels will latch onto anybody or anything that they think might provide food.
Probably not an enormous problem for most people but if someone's not keen on small furry things I can see it being a problem for them.

Lydia - Generally adapted housing association houses can't be exhanged unfortunately, certainly true for my housing association.

If in future they do adapt my house, I wouldn't then be able to exchange with another one unless that was adapted too.

How frustrating. I wish there were a possibility of swapping to a place that's not adapted yet, but which is more suitable to be adapted than your current house. However, I don't suppose the council you swapped to would be thrilled about having to foot the bill for the adaptations, so I doubt they'd allow it. :(

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Latest news from the J household...
We think we have found a dog. We are going to see him in a few days to confirm it, but his foster carers say he meets all our criteria, so we're feeling very positive. I don't want to travel to see him on a weekend day, though, because he's currently near Cheddar, which is quite some distance from here, and traffic in the SW during the school summer holidays is much much worse on the weekends. Besides, we're going to see Aged P, plus my brother and niece who'll be staying with him for a few days, so we'll be driving south anyway, which makes more sense.
Then we'll just have to wait for them to send someone to our house to check the garden's secure, and then we should be able to bring him home. :)

Well, he was an airport employee, so he could have planned and prepared it in advance.

A strange thing though... first they said it was a suicide thing, and then they said it was a jorpyride gone wrong and he could have seriously hurt himself.,

The two things don't add up.
