This is one pair that I identified a few weeks ago as being "good enough/about right" - an odd colour, this is the sort of "striking lift" my east facing room needs. I'd not say I'd "choose this colour/style of curtains" for their own merits, or my taste, but I just feel that for this room, for those windows, that "OTT look" and the colour would probably be "just right"....

At the time I hot footed it up to Dunelm - and they said they were "online ordering only", but I wanted to see/feel the material for myself and didn't want the hassle of collection/returns and all that waste of time for something where feel/look of the material is fundamental to their suitability

Now, however, they don't even sell my size! There must've been a rush on the bigguns... or maybe they only ever make 6 in that big size :)

Although the house is very light, it lacks the look of "warmth/cosiness" ... and I think a yellowish colour, like that, would add that "feeling of warmth"...

As there's nothing patterned in the room, I thought the curtains could use a bit of a pattern, to break up that monotony ... so there needs to be "something going on" on the curtains, which need to be lightish in colour, yet "slightly unusual/striking" and cheap :) and big enough :) and accessible :)

Also, preferably they should come with a free Moon on a Stick

    ----
Going down that "ochre" route, to grab a keyword, these are the right size and that colour ... but they're a bit ... er .... naff (and £60)

    http://www.dunelm.com/product/elements-emmott-ochre-eyelet-curtains-1000092849

That's the trouble - you see what you want when you see it - and you can tell what you don't want .... when it looks like that. Having said that, if they were slashed to £20 then I'd buy them (just to put an end to the searching)

This sort of pattern "would do if there was nothing else" ... if they were eyelet and if they weren't £90 :) Those, if £20, would get shortlisted.

    ----

Just found these - they had been £20 before they went out of stock.

... although I do fear the word "natural" when describing the colour as my current curtains are "natural" and it's far too "flat and dull" ...

For John Lewis fans :) .... these at £140 "would do", if they can knock that end 0 off the price!

If you search John Lewis eyelet 228 curtains on eBay and set lowest price you
'll see some things that you might like.

Cheapest in the correct size are £40 ... didn't like those.
Kept looking ... but very few in the right size and soon the prices go way too high for "2nd hand curtains from ebay" :)

Received a text at 7.30am, click/collect available - so I went and got it.

    :)

EDIT 10.55: It's been tipping it down for the last hour!!! Water like rivers into drains. Glad I did the collect immediately, it was at least dry then.

EDIT 11.45: And I'm back on curtains. Found some "they'd do" ones, when I selected my size they come up at £72. I don't/won't pay £72 for "they'd do"... (even if they do tell me they were £103).

Nothing there strikes me as better than the ones I've already got.

This is the thing - I have curtains at the windows that fit, but they've never been "right for the room", so the objective is to get "better than what I've got" curtains, not just "any curtains that fit" as I already have "any curtains that fit" :)

The secondary consideration is that the curtains I do buy, I'd plan to take with me when I move ... and would wish to as they're "better than the current ones"; I'd leave the current ones for the new owner as "curtains that fit, so you can close them on moving day at least".

Argos have some plain green ones at £14 in the right size.

But I'm wary and picky about those as it's "too much" dark block colour ....

My ipad turns everything red at night, so the green curtains looked grey. It's a feature to help me sleep.

Having switched that off, I can see the green colour. It's not a good colour to sell a house, I fear, but I'm a man, and consequently my taste can be disregarded.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

But why is it that the Winters seem to get ever longer, colder, damper and more dismal?
There's no pleasing me though. I don't like it too hot in the Summer, and I hate Winter!
