Sometimes I wonder if using a tiny screwdriver to burrow under will help me with the flipping of a catch, or if it'll just speed up the time you're waiting until you break it.
Nothing is obvious/straight forward...and there's no need for it!
I've never used/seen used a tablet.... I bet I'd not understand what it can do, how to do it....
The nice bloke in IT support at work who has just kindly fitted the part he told me to buy to fix my (home) laptop has a plastic tool called a spudger for this purpose. It is designed to break if you try to apply more force with it than would be good for the various parts of a laptop/tablet.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I do have some plastic tools that look like the cheap plastic version of one of those and it is having nothing to do with either getting into the crack nor once jammed in applying nearly enough pressure to release the clips. Having had no luck with a sacrificial credit card either, I am thinking kitchen knife....:eek:I think....0

Joe bought the tool kit to make it easier....it does!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Pastures, you can do most things on a tablet, (an iPad anyway), that you can do on another type of computer.
There are a few limitations. I only have an iPad, no laptop or desktop, and it serves virtually all of my purposes. The things it can't do, and I can't even think of an example at the moment, don't bother me too much!
Yes,you can save files.
And send emails, scan stuff in, print out, take photos, make some types of 'phone' calls, watch live or catch-up TV, etc etc. With some tablets you can even write straight onto the screen with a special iPen type of thing!
Some superior types have the same mobile-phone facility as mobiles, but they're a fair bit more expensive; mine doesn't.
Re. the tarmac........ maybe the weather set things back? I don't know anything about laying tarmac, but maybe the heavy rain was a factor? Maybe the substrate has to be dry, or something? Just guessing, though.
The news this morning said that research shows sperm counts are 40% down, and at this rate the human race could ecome extinct.
Sounds a bit improbable to me.(I just lurve spiders!)

As Pyxis says, it depends on what you want to do. I have an ipad for work, which is very handy for a particular app I use in the classroom where I need a camera facility with a screen that's a lot bigger than a phone. However, that's all I use it for. To me, a computer is not a proper computer unless it has fully functional Word and Excel. My work ipad does not. Even for web browsing, it drives me nuts that it does not have a "right click" capability - particularly when I'm playing puzzle games. DS, OTOH, has a Surface Pro. It's significantly more expensive than a ipad (although the stylus for drawing on the screen that also does "right click" is much cheaper), but it has a cover that's also a proper keyboard with keys he can feel, to make touch typing easier, full Windows 10 with Office, and the capacity to do everything that a laptop can do... with the portability of a ipad, and the camera as well. He needs all of that so he can be on a more or less level playing field at school, considering that he's significantly dyslexic and gets hand pain when writing.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Have a situation which is making me very confused and conflicted.
I know it is important for youngest to feel settled at uni and had already planned to spend an extended time on drop off day with him to help with that. Last night, he asked if I could stay in a hotel overnight after he has been dropped off in case he needs me on his first full day.
I really don't know what to do, on the one hand, me staying could be the difference to it all being a success (everything has always been about slowly easing him into new routines, for example, I had to drive him up to college instead of him taking the bus initially until his confidence had grown) but on the other hand, it feels like pandering and I worry about it being counter productive.

I don't think it's pandering. He's going to be there for years. One day to help him ease in is a drop in the bucket. And as you say, making sure the beginning goes well is the key to the whole course succeeding. Now, if he wanted you to stay for the whole of the first term, that really would be pandering!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? When I got mine, I also got a wifi keyboard compatible with it for if I wanted to lot of typing, but I haven't really used it yet.
Then of course for other things you just get an App for it!
Best of all is you can use it in bed! And it's very convenient for carting around as it's so small, thin and light.
It always amazes me that it's only about a cm thick, and the size of a book, but does far more than my thumping great desktop did back in the early 90s!(I just lurve spiders!)
