Have a situation which is making me very confused and conflicted.
I know it is important for youngest to feel settled at uni and had already planned to spend an extended time on drop off day with him to help with that. Last night, he asked if I could stay in a hotel overnight after he has been dropped off in case he needs me on his first full day.
I really don't know what to do, on the one hand, me staying could be the difference to it all being a success (everything has always been about slowly easing him into new routines, for example, I had to drive him up to college instead of him taking the bus initially until his confidence had grown) but on the other hand, it feels like pandering and I worry about it being counter productive.
Argghhhh!
Deffo not pandering, Sue!
He's effectively 'leaving home' which is daunting enough even without 'problems' (for want of a better word).
You just agreeing to staying over for a night will ease his anxiety tremendously and he can relax and look forward to it.
The chances are that he won't even need you, once he's there, as he will be enjoying himself with any new friends, but just knowing you are there will be a great relief! I expect!
I had to go to Uni completely on my own....... never been that far on my own before, and it was extremely daunting. I would have loved someone being there, just in case.
Don't quote, will delete...

Is drop off day the same as registration day? That is when he will need to make sure that all the paperwork is correct and any support that is meant to be provided has been put in place. Although I don't think you are pandering at all, you may find that very little happens the day after drop off day.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks all.
Silvercar, no idea! With Josh it was all done with the picking up of his keys and filling in GP forms etc, for James it was done a few days after he arrived so yet another thing to put on the list for our meeting with them.
It actually would be better for me too really due to fatigue levels even though I will not be doing the driving. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Aren't 'starter cartridges' designed so you can't get cheap printing even going down the 'throw the printer away when the original carts run out' route?
It's ridiculous how it's impossible to find a reasonably priced printer with reasonably priced inks. I know the printer companies aren't an actual cartel but they follow such similar money-gouging policies that you wouldn't be surprised if it turned out they actually were.
It's like every household needs to buy a fridge but they need to run on a specially expensive type of electric current, and if you use ordinary electricity the machine'll warm up or break down. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Exactly!
Or a special type of Toyota petrol for my car, because Citroen petrol would damage it.
Plus, I need to fill up at a Toyota petrol station specific for the model of car, because another model's petrol nozzle won't fit in my model's petrol tank.
I really don't understand how this has been allowed to go on for so long.(I just lurve spiders!)

My latest HP printer comes with an ink deal where I pay £3.49 a month and they post me cartridges when mine are running low. There is an allowance of 150 pages per month for that. Other price/ page limits are available.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. That's a way of doing it but the prices still imply the inks must be made of the tears of rare butterflies diluted with interferon.:eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I gave up having my own printer and now visit a local shop which print things out for me at very low rates (got 4 copies and a large envelope on Tuesday for less than 50p).
When Joe went in to get copies of his CV printed out, they gave him 20 free copies! We made it!
