Dear Pastures, sorry about unhappiness.
I think you have planning permission for extension? That might be a good selling point?
Let me know if you want me to remove any part of this post, or the whole of it.
Best wishes to you and the best of luck from Liverpool. Maggie.0 -
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Come up to Liverpool dear PN - kids here get told off if they pi55 off the neighbours. Housing cheap compared to most of the country too. OH would be only too happy to give you a hand I'm sure. He's not the greatest in practical terms, but he tries! LOL. I'd be really happy to have you as a neighbour. Feel sick that you're having so many problems.0

Crikey, that sounds an absolute nightmare. No wonder you've made your decision.
But how can you ensure that you don't move to a similar situation? Find a house with own gardens/drive (and either fenced off or with nothing to prevent you doing it) on a road rather than in a "development"?0 -
I'm so sorry, Pastures, that it has come to this.
Especially given the expense.
BUT, in the long run, you will probably be a lot happier.
As you say, with clearly defined boundaries, it will be a lot easier to define your rights.
Will you stay in the same area do you think?
I must admit, hearing what you've had to put up with stressed me, and I'm not even in the situation! so it must be hell on Earth to actually be in the middle of it all.

But how can you ensure...
Good fences make good neighbours they say.
Nothing open plan... even a numbered spot outside your front door's not good enough if you can't prevent it being used as a skatepark by a dozen unknown/unruly kids 4-5 hours/day and 10 hours on weekends.
If you looked out of your window and saw somebody doing wheelies across your grass right now .... if it's open plan you can't stop it. You can shout "OI", but if they don't care they'll bring their mates back every night and all do it if they know it annoys you. If you can put up a bush/fence, or shut your gate, then they won't do it and you don't have to engage with them. They do it because all they see is open space (vehicles being in the way don't matter)0 -
Yes, open plan can be a strange concept.
It's fundamentally alien to human nature!
Look what happens on the beach....... everyone stakes their claim to their 'spot', demarcating it with rugs and chairs etc, and woe-betide anyone else who pitches too close!
Wherever we are, we make boundaries, so even though open plan might look aesthetically pleasing, it can really cause problems!
It might be ok if everyone is over a certain age and doesn't want to do gardening! Even then you can have people taking shortcuts over someone else's bit! Grrrrr!
Planners and developers really should be forced to live for a time in the properties they design and allow!(I just lurve spiders!)

You can't live like that. You'll get ill.
Yes, you have to move.
One bit of silver lining........while you're decluttering, you'll probably find that electric screwdriver............(I just lurve spiders!)

There's always something to look forward to isn't there
I can't say discovering the screwdriver's overly useful/exciting as I'm not gifted in the DIY dept ... but I'd like to see it again for peace of mind.0 -
As for the cost of moving, I've always had it in my head that I would move one day, so I'd have had to get round to paying for that at some point, I just expected to jump rather than be pushed.
If things hadn't been as they have been, I'd have probably stuck around here another 5 years or so.
Indeed, it's probably doing me a favour as the differential between buying another house in the next year will be smaller than if I leave it... so I can afford more today than if I leave it 5 years "drifting".
So, probably good - and maybe I should've done this last year instead of trying to "stick with the bed I made" and go down the PP route/waste of time.0
