DW listens to church from Jamaica on Sunday afternoons. For the congregation, it basically consists of 3 hours of having someone shout at you. Explains a lot about what DW thinks is a reasonable way of behaving....
Sending hugs to michaels and the s children.
No shouting at our church this morning, and although, like your DW, I do sometimes listen to podcast sermons from an overseas church, I don't get shouted at by them either. The one I like to listen to is big on being welcoming and encouraging - their strap line is "Everybody's welcome, nobody's perfect and anything's possible" - so shouting would be counterproductive.
Must admit I shouted at DD this afternoon though.I was wrestling with a mountain of washing that had built up while I had been been paying attention to other things, and I found four of her tops in the dirty washing place that were not only clean but still on their hangers!

I am probably being very dim, but I don't follow what you are saying. I usually find what you say worth listening to, so do please explain what you meant.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

The vile carpet in my dining room (which has the stairs in it), landing and half landing is finally going. There are two blokes with stanley knives hacking it up and removing it as I type.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Having sown all the seeds that I intend to this week, I was looking over the veggie beds to observe that the first of my Perennial Cauliflowers is producing head at last. Having never grown them before I wasn't sure how big the heads get - they are a form of broccoli (the sprouting type not the calabrese which supermarkets often label as broccoli) but produce heads like small cauliflowers rather than like broccoli.
Whilst googling for this, I found people who propagate these things by cuttings rather than trying to get seeds from them - whilst they are perennial, they really last for four/five years, apparently.
Sounds interesting, I thought - so I've cut some small shoots from my Purple Sprouting Broccoli to try as an experiment. There are two options - either they just die or they don't. If it's the latter I'll try planting them out to see how they do for next spring. If it works, it could be easier than faffing around with seeds and seedlings for some of my other brassicas.
Whilst I was taking the cuttings I observed that the PSBs have produced loads more heads that really need harvesting - so that's what I'm doing next0 -

The underlay is down and they are bringing in the new carpet.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? They're not hanging about, are they?
Nope they're not. Actually, I found when I peered down over the banisters that actually while the one guy had got the underlay down on the landing and was getting on with bringing in the carpet, the downstairs one was still only part way through removing the old underlay. Downstairs is a lot more complicated, though - not only has it got the bottom of the (open treaded wooden) stairs, but it also has 4 doors that need fitting round. State of play now is that the landing seems finished, and the upstairs chap has moved onto the half landing, which is nearing completion. Meanwhile, the downstairs one has finished the underlay and gone off to bring the rest of the carpet in.
It feels lovely and soft and squishy. Much better even than the bit that was under the dining table where the old carpet still felt quite new. The underlay is clearly much better quality than what was there before. It makes me glad I didn't pay the extra for the other shortlisted carpet option, which was a bit nicer, both to tread on and to look at, but a lot more expensive.
ETA Chris - every time you mention PSB you remind me of my dad warning us kids not to trample on the PSB he grew when we were little. Strangely enough, I can't remember eating any at that age.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I haven't been posting because I was in a warm sunny place, though I gather it's been warm and sunny at home part of the time too
We came home to find gazillions of dandelions in the back garden, which i dealt with yesterday, and flowers on the alkanet in both gardens so I'll have to dig them up asap before they go to seed  (Alkanet is the weed with spotty hairy leaves and tiny bright blue flowers.)
Not feeling great atm - apparently I have a thyroid problem. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist in June. He wants me to have a blood test at the hospital about 2 weeks beforehand, which is when I was planning to go to Germany to visit my sister-in-law. I was trying to fit in my visit between the half-term holiday, when the airport will be even busier than usual, and our wedding anniversary in mid-June. I think I will have to postpone it slightly, which I don't really want to do either as it starts to get very hot and humid where she lives. Oh well, can't be helped, and I'd rather see her at a time i'm (hopefully) feeling more like my usual self.0 -

Sorry to hear that, Ivy. Let's hope they can sort it out quickly.
