Hold the comma down for a bit. It turns into apostrophe.
Or get a bluetooth keyboard.
I can type things that look like apostrophes until I tap submit, but then they go weird when the message gets posted. Fortunately I don!!!8217;t have to use the iPad very often - just when DD is borrowing my laptop for her homework. Which reminds me - I must ask the lovely IT guys at work whether they have worked out what is wrong with DD!!!8217;s own laptop yet.
Edit: that was strange. It managed the apostrophe in DD!!!8217;s just fine until I put one in don!!!8217;t as well, and then it made them both go wrong.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Mine is doing it as well. I'm running the software before the latest one as I haven't had chance to update it yet, despite Apple reminding me a million times. I will update it and post from there later to see if it makes a difference.💙💛 💔0

Mine's the same, but it's only a problem on this website.
But it's not a problem if I type on my PC.
Clearly, the website has had somebody new in, and he wants to make his mark.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

If it only happens on MSE, then it's an MSE thing, I'm afraid. I forget the technical reasoning. Not that I understood it in the first place!
With me, it only happens if I copy and paste stuff from certain sources.(I just lurve spiders!)

You need an android. Not just as an alternative to an iPad, but one who can do the other half of your work. Hope things get better soon and that you don't feel as !!!! as tablets hereabouts seem to.
Seriously, I feel for you but I'm trying to make this post sufficiently vague after the deletion of those around it. Don't run yourself into the ground. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Thanks. I've just done that so let's see how it deals with the apostrophes in this sentence.
It's not my iPad. It belongs to work. I use software called Plickers in my classes for which I need something with a camera, and it works much better with a decent sized tablet screen than with my phone, so work have provided me with this. I only use it at home when DD is using my laptop. Apart from using it for Plickers, I always prefer to use a laptop rather than a tablet. My laptop runs windows. I have an aging iPod classic, which I like, but otherwise I'm not a fan of Apple products. As you can understand, given than that I generally do not like either Apple stuff or tablets, the iPad is not my favourite device!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? ''' I!!!8217;ve left smart punctuation on. I've not touched it.
Hmmm. That!!!8217;s not consistent.
And now I've switched it off. I'm not sure whether it's on by default? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
It was on by default on mine. Turning it off seems to have worked. It's much better now.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
