I'm going to find out where the electoral roll is tomorrow

That's what my timer's for
My timings aren't regular enough from day to day for that to work for me. It's much more efficient for me to have a Tado which will automatically turn the heating on when it detects that my phone is travelling home, and off again when it detects that my phone has left the house.I knew because a friend's parents' friends went to his wedding. His wife is also Jewish.
He was on Radio 4 last night talking about losing his mother at the age of 12 and it came up a couple of times in what he was saying.
Yes, I knew that. Apparently he doesn't like to bang on about it because he (understandably) doesn't like the stereotype that "Jewish = good with money". However, when I found out he's Jewish, that wasn't what came to my mind at all. Instead, I thought about how the bit of Jewish scripture with which I'm familiar (ie what Christians call the Old Testament) goes on a lot about standing up for the rights of the poor and disadvantaged as well as commanding followers to give to those less well off than themselves. I think this website and his campaigning and the colossal sums he's given to charity are all part of his expression of Judaism, as well as obviously showing that he's a nice person who cares about other people and wants to make the world a better place, which of course isn't the sole prerogative of followers of any one belief system. :ADo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

If people have only moved recently it may be some time before they appear on the current roll - depending on whether they have notified the office themselves or waited for the next request for an update.0 -

Eee, that's fancy - I'd assumed that you, yourself, could turn it on remotely, not that it would do it automatically based on location.
Presumably there's an override option in case it thinks that you're heading home but in reality your going somewhere else where the route happens to pass close to home?0 -

They probably won't tell you. Data Protection rules changed in 2001 meaning that you could no longer rock up and check the register. You now have the open and closed versions, you tick the relevant box when you fill the form out. However it is a bit like ex directory phones.. everyone does it.
We stopped holding the ER in libraries here years ago for that reason, so refer people to the council, but it is probably worth phoning the council to confirm this.I'm guessing that under the new GDPR rules if anything this will get even stricter. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? That's interesting. I once looked at the roll many years ago at the local library. Now, my council says:
"Electoral register: how to view
The electoral register is available for public inspection under supervision at the Electoral Services, Building 2, North London Business Park, Oakleigh Road South, London N11 1NP between the hours of 9.30am and 4pm on normal working days."No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Hi all, don't blame you staying in here, there are a few nasty mean spirited people out there :-)'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I don't know anything about PIRs, but I wouldn't have thought that one mounted inside would detect someone outside.(I just lurve spiders!)

As it's supposed to detect motion, it was possible it would
Worth a shot as it was for sale just 400 yards from my house and cost £8 + batteries.
It's two separate Siemens units.... the doorbell itself has a bell and a pushbutton with RRP about £20, but it was on at £5 at the (small) cheap overstock warehouse at the end of the road - and the PIR bit is also Siemens at £3.0 -

Could you put it outside? Or is it not weatherproof?(I just lurve spiders!)
