Round here there aren't any "local pages" that anybody bothers with. There's one post saying somebody saw a snow plough for the first time ... but, as a rule, the world could be ending before anybody locally posted on anything like a "local page". I think there's a struggle with identity, of what you call the place where you live, so it becomes fragmented + having the main name the same as somewhere on the other side of the world means that posting with the main town name is meaningless as it gets swallowed up by a large city's constant posts from the other side of the world using the same hashtag.

I do hope you've followed that wise advice to strap two carpet samples to your slippers :)
Just like fitted carpet, without the cost. Very MSE.

I imagine she's concerned with the air temperature in the room as well as with her feet.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

DW can't understand my anxiety about running out. :o
I think we'll have to start a club on this thread for loo-roll-running-out-thereof-phobics! :D

I wonder what the Greek for running out of loo rolls is?
I want to devise a phobia word for it.

I didn't do Greek at school.

    Edit....see below!

All bar two schools in the village and main town have already said they are closed tomorrow. Not checked for the big town but I would assume it is similar.

The posts on Facebook on our local pages brought back memories of how I felt having to go out on bad mornings to get them to school, especially as we tend to get cut off far easier in the village but with a lot of our children at schools in the town.

I'm not due to work tomorrow so will watch the weather from the comfort of my home. Will be nice to not have to worry about driving anywhere especially with what is forecast for here tomorrow.

That's a relief Sue, as it looks like tomorrow will be the worst day.

    We've got about 5!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

All schools apart from the village school are now shut tomorrow.

    Wa-hay! There is one already!

A word for a phobia of running out of loo rolls! :T

    I have a real phobia! :j:j

    It's acartohygieiophobia
(n.) The morbid fear of running out of toilet paper. From the Greek, literally "absence of paper for hygiene purposes, fear of."

So, we have a quorum for starting a sub-thread for acartohygieiophobics! Yey!

Go the acartohygieiophobics! Ra! Ra! Ra!

I have 24, but am fretting as that clearly isn't enough.

    I have 12, clearly a light weight.

If you run out there are plenty of substitutes eg tissues, kitchen roll before you need to start cutting up newspaper.

The future is toilet roll free. Toilets will become more sophisticated with water jets and air dryers.
