Marmoleum comes in all sorts of colours, though, not just wood-look.

Plus you can have more than one colour and have pieces inlaid to form patterns.

But I shan't confuse you with more choices! :D

We had a mock-tile look, with little insets in each corner. Also some patterned tiles randomly dotted around that were possible unnecessary.

That's because the name Finchley came a lot later. On one map, they were shown as a subdivision named the
    Septentrionalis Circulaviarenses.

Whilst East Finchley can indeed lay claim to a stretch of the Norf Circular, that is just one of its many riches. There's also the Coppetts Wood Isolation Hospital.

Not forgetting the East Finchley Arts Festival. The 21st festival is on at the moment. Hurry, or you'll miss out.

    Ebola, etc.

Coppetts Wood was closed in 2011, and the ability to treat these cases was transferred to the Royal Free - a major teaching hospital that treats thousands of patients a day. Whoever did the risk analysis needs their head examined, but it probably saves quite a bit of money.

 Careless person just reversed out of a driveway straight into our car. Damage looks minor (scratch and dent in door) but quotes seem to be £750 plus so it will be an insurance job. Verbal admission of liability and we have an independent witness but it is just the hassle and of course having an accident even where it is 'no fault' still affects insurance premiums.

I could see everything and was going to toot but the guy slowed as if he were stopping so I looked away to where I was driving and by the time I saw movement in the corner of my eye and sounded the horn it was too late.

They'd have trouble denying liability anyway.
"But, m'Lud, the claimant's car suddenly jumped sideways into the back of my car." is most unlikely to wash ;)
and of course having an accident even where it is 'no fault' still affects insurance premiums.

Indeed - for some strange reason the statistics and probabilities that the insurers use always work out that if someone's had one no fault accident they are more likely to have another than is someone who hasn't.

Insurance job - not your insurance, though, surely?

But the way it works is we go through our insurance company and pay the excess and wait months until they recover the costs from the third party insurance company and refund the excess payment. Our insurance company probably insist on some EV specialist who are miles away who pick up the car, thrash it to their bodyshop, do an average job and thrash it back to our house having possibly given us an inferior replacement car whilst are car is away for a week or so.

You were run into by the other driver. So, get a couple of quotes for repairs from main dealers, and send them to the other driver, suggesting that he passes them on to his insurers. If you're correct that it's under £1k, they are unlikely to quibble.

I'd make it clear to the main dealers that you don't expect the car to have clocked up more than 1 mile for a test run by the time you get it back. Or whatever you think is reasonable.

I can't see any reason why you should claim against your own insurance.

Why does a scratch and a dent in the door cost £750?

Is it because they know the insurers will cough up, and the insurers know they can pass the costs onto the premiums so they don't haggle?
