... when would you bring up ...
Tough question .... 2nd probably. Sooner's a bit "in your face" ... the 2nd is "I liked you enough to bother calling again" ... so that's the time they need to know what deal they're buying into.

But ... the question then becomes: "And how do you slide that in so you don't get an inappropriate response". You want to slide it in ... then that's job done ... but it's hard as, for them, "it came from nowhere" and in front of an audience (you) ...

Not easy .... at all ...

But I notice you just "slid in the word" .... "I". Is it?
That's the word my dad used .... it's not a good word.
So, I'll be blunt .... "How long...." etc etc?

Somebody had to be blunt, everybody's got their fingers crossed that it's me!

I think we all need to put ourselves first sometimes however much it goes against the grain of a lifetime of being a super nice person.
    I think....

My car was in for a service yesterday and had an advisory that one tyre is down to 3.3mm. I thought of your sig and changed it. Previously I may have left it for a while longer.

Well done! Glad I made a difference. Credit also goes to Viva, without whose life-saving-information-type sig I would never have thought of having mine.

Opinions sought. Asking for a friend ;)

Definitely not on the first or second date. Two dates is often as long as these things last anyway - or maybe it's just me that never gets beyond the second date??

After that, if it was going well, I think I would make reference to "health problems" and only introduce scarier words later. But all that really matters is how much information your friend is comfortable revealing, which is a very personal decision and different people will no doubt feel differently about it.

While I agree that if asked questions, one should be truthful rather than lying, nevertheless, I think there's nothing wrong with saying "I'm not ready to talk about that yet" if that's the truth.

Like the rest of the NP, I am sad to hear the "I" word that PN has mentioned. Wish there was something we could do to help. :(
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Thank you all. My friend feels like they're being dishonest but it (unsurprisingly) hasn't come up so no lies have been told (even white ones). They are trying to look on this as just meeting someone new for a drink (which it is). There has been no discussion about what either party was seeking using said app. And yes, Lydia, my friend is expecting a maximum if a couple of meet ups before it peters out so maybe no need to mention at all...

And yes, 'i'. Which is horrible but a much nicer word than alternatives such as 't'...
No timescales discussed. Scan results last week showed an "impressive response" (quote), so treatment going at least as well as could be hoped for.
The scientific literature does not make for happy reading but that will be based on old treatments and my friend is relatively young and otherwise healthy so is intending to be an outlier... only a couple of weeks ago she walked a half marathon and was in better shape at the end than all of her friends :)

Just watched the apprentice. Splitting the teams into male and female seems so far apart from the reality of modern business life I can't beleive the beeb still thinks it is appropriate. Yes I do know it is entertainment not reality but even still...

I've never watched it. Seen a few random episodes over the years, but I never liked any of the tw4ts that signed up for it.

It's just a different version of dragons' den really .... they all want investment for their company, or for their idea - and slug it out with ridiculous challenges instead of just pitching their idea and asking for money.

Your friend sounds as lovely and thoughtful as ever. :)

I am so sorry that your friend has had this news, but I think she is absolutely brilliant to pick herself up and go on a date. She doesn't need to spoil that by disclosing any health issues at the moment. That can be left until later, if things start getting serious.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Your right. Once they changed the prize from a year's work as the apprentice to an investment, it should all have been about the business plan. Instead they kept the format as before. So a brilliant business plan may never get seen just because you failed at designing perfume/ burgers etc

Though I suspect it is all a bit staged, so they know who has the decent business plans before they start the series.
