"RAF fighter jets escort Ryanair plane into Stansted airport after security incident"
That's such a nice, comforting headline. Until you realise that 'escort' does not mean safeguard and protect the plane and its passengers, but shoot it down if necessary.
Probably full of Essex chavs... maybe ALL their planes should be escorted .... or just shot down in case.0 -

I have just burned my hand on the edge of the oven shelf, and now have a medium-sized sore blister on it.
I knew there was a reason why I only tend to do stir fries.
There are some (cheap) silicone strips for that. Just a folded piece of silicone with a slit down it, so you just hold it level with the front of the shelf and push it on. I've been considering getting some for my sibling, who is careless (rather than accident prone) ....but I thought "Nah ... if they were wanted/would be used they'd already be owned and in place".
Google for oven shelf guard - e.g. Dunelm do one at £2.99.

We had some like that, but they get in the way when using the oven shelf and tend to fall off.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Funnily enough, I was looking at some in the Lakeland catalogue last week, but decided against!
To be honest, I very rarely actually cook with the oven these days; it tends to be for heating pies etc. that wouldn't be as good done in the microwave, or baking potatoes. Plus I'm not really a clumsy person; it was just a combination of things on this occasion!
Anyway, gin cures everything, even blisters!(I just lurve spiders!)

Opinions sought. Asking for a friend
DQWD:
If you were going to meet up with someone you seem to get on with surprisingly well with that you'd met online on a 'dating' app, which you'd signed up to not really knowing what you were looking for, when would you bring up that you have incurable cancer?0 -

Well, not on the first meeting, or even on the first date.
After that, it really just depends.
If you feel it was actually going somewhere, then there'll come a point when you'll know it's right to bring it up.
However, if it's just congenial company, or just a bit of fun, then not for a lot longer, probably.
They themselves might bring it up at some point....... they might sense something's not right, in which case, be truthful.
I think.
Difficult really.
Has anyone been in a similar position?(I just lurve spiders!)

Ok, now I'm looking at it from the other point of view.
When would I want to be told?
Well, not in the early stages. It might come to nothing.
Plus, I wouldn't want to be put in the position, possibly, of being reluctant to end something that wasn't working, for fear of them thinking it was because of that, when it wouldn't be.
Further down the line, to be honest, if I really, really liked the person, it wouldn't matter. Any amount of time with someone I really, really liked is better than no time with them at all, iyswim.(I just lurve spiders!)

A friend was telling me she didn't know when to introduce the fact she can't have kids into the conversation. This dilemma is far harder.
I guess "not after a long term relationship" is an initial get out. If you want to test reactions but you don't want to reveal too much, could you make vague suggestions of moving away?

I'm agreeing with all this and if the date is a nice person then they will think similarly and if they are not a nice person, you don't need them in your life.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
