"RAF fighter jets escort Ryanair plane into Stansted airport after security incident"

That's such a nice, comforting headline. Until you realise that 'escort' does not mean safeguard and protect the plane and its passengers, but shoot it down if necessary.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Going to see a show in Hammersmith Friday.

Where is a stop on the subway route from Liverpool St Station with plenty of restaurants and atmosphere? Spitalfields or Liv St immediate area was my first thought, eat there then get the subway onto Hammersmith afterwards.

I dislike soulless places (as an example went we went to Wembley the restaurants in the Mall there - very depressing and all chain places)

I rarely go to London so am clueless.

Another thought was Islington High St as I recall many restaurants one can chose from.

There's a place called The Distillers on Fulham Palace Road, just around the corner from the Apollo, if that's where you're going. I love it and would pick any excuse to go. :)

Years ago we intended to look around a bit but spent the day, and two meals in there. It's got huge windows, friendly staff and a relaxed feel. Beer garden in the summer, fire in the winter. Lots of beers and wines. A genuine London vibe. I've been there this summer too, just before meeting Jeremy Vine, my not so guilty pleasure. :o

Did you hear the sonic boom?

Mighty loud and very scary hearing (feeling) that this morning, knew straight away it was something out of the ordinary...well I say straight away but the initial thought was that my roof was collapsing. It scared all the birds too, never seen so many birds all going in completely different directions to each other swarming over the skies.

At least it woke the local Facebook pages up, think they went into meltdown for a good half an hour with posts coming in at a rate of several per second.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

South Kensington, around the station has a lot of restaurants and more of a local feel. There's plenty of chains and independents to choose from, and there's a square of sorts behind the station where people sit outside. There's an independent Italian called Rocca on the Old Brompton Road that is unbelievable value for Money. Less than £10 for a main course containing plenty of seafood. I've taken lots of people there and get through a fair few bottles of their pink fizz. You just go and queue up at the door, doesn't take long to get a seat if there is a queue.

Local London is the absolute best.

    Blimey!

Never let it be said that Ryanair didn't go out with a bang, (or in this case, a boom).

(Sorry if that's already been said, but came straight onto NP thread after doing a load of cooking).

I didn't hear a boom, but much too far away!

Will scoot off to DT to see what caused it. They seem to have a hotline to the press offices over there.

Actually, I'll scroll down to BBC News channel first.

Edit..Nah.... just Tory conference stuff, blah blah blah.

Edit... nothing in DT yet either.

    Google then...........

Edit... I see from Google that it was 3or 4 hours ago.
    Suspected hoax!

Jeez! I hope they throw the book at the hoaxer, if so. Derpserves a prison sentence if you ask me.

It said that Stansted airport is the default airport in case of a terrorist attack. I bet they're thrilled to know that, even though it makes perfect sense, strategically.

Landing with a suspect something, or any sort of emergency like that, I suppose. Saves potentially explosive planes flying over/near London?

Separate section, away from the terminal building and other planes.

    Ah! I see!

I have just burned my hand on the edge of the oven shelf, and now have a medium-sized sore blister on it. :(

I knew there was a reason why I only tend to do stir fries. :(
