DW volunteers for a charity, helping people draw up POAs and advance care statements. Fortunately, none of the clients ask her about her own. The cobbler's children are the worst shod ...

If you've been looking for a house for months on end with a very specific set of requirements without luck, then maybe one at the 'right price' is going to be snapped up quickly.

If it's not the one, it's not the one, though.

I hope something appears soon, PN.

Just sent a complaint to the BBC about biased reporting and the layout of their news website. The climate change reporting is driving me mad. It is everyday and it is in a more prominant position on their website than world disasters and often stabbing victims. The reporting is biased so obviously written by someone who is part of the ego trip of climate change.

Today was the last straw as far as I was concerned. There was something about a singer who I had never heard of who was obviously after publicity provided free by the BBC. They obviously needed the publicity because I had never hear of them but who also had a name that was very similar to a young stabbing victim. That report was on the same page and not far from the report on the deaths of 39 people in a lorry. I wish I could vote to sack these reporters who are being paid from my licence fee. I feel sorry for the people who have lost relatives to stabbings whose relatives are of less importance to the BBC than some stupid report on something no one is interested in.

It comes to something when free publicity for a second rate singer with a name similar to a stabbing victim gets onto to the same page of the website as a report on 39 deaths.

I have complained about the amount and prominence of climate change reporting. If the BBC just did a bit of real research they would find that most people in the UK are not interested in anything to do with climate change. The number of cars still being driven and the number of parents doing the school run would tell them that if nothing else. Continually reporting on something just makes people ignore it so time for them to stop reporting on something that only interests their reporters. There is nothing to stop them from burying it at the back of some report somewhere on the website.

I'm also concerned about climate change. I disagree that most people arent interested. Everyone I know is. There was an interesting point about XR on the radio the other day. It said that many people disagree with their tactics (me included), however nobody is thinking less about climate change as a result.

Having said that, their civil disobedience does hit the wrong people. Whether that's the hourly paid and zero hour contracts workers getting angry that they will lose their meagre wages in Canning Town, or the hardworking student in tears on the way to her graduation ceremony in St Albans where they had blocked a road.

Yesterday Honda announced that new vehicles will be electric from 2022. That refers to new models rather than existing, but change is happening.

I live in London and I can tell you that most people in London are not worried about climate change. You should see the increase in cars at school run time. Extinction Rubbish Idiots say that the government must do something about climate change. There is a government leaflet https://dfemedia.blog.gov.uk/2019/05/09/how-we-can-all-help-tackle-air-pollution-near-schools/ about pollution levels near schools. People near me take not one bit of notice of schools if they tell them not to park near the school to drop their children off and I can't believe that this is just a problem near me. The local boroughs have camera cars that park near schools to catch parents who park on the zig zag lines outside schools. On the days when the camera cars are around these parents walk their children to the school from much further away than they would normally.

Climate change is happening what we need to concentrate on is adapting to it. Not demonstrating in London and climbing on tube trains to try to get the government to produce more information like the car pollution information near schools that the majority of parents don't take any notice of.

There are around 2 million students in the UK of those 80% are doing courses where there is no need for them to physically go to university they could do the courses by distance learning. Buildings are the biggest source of carbon emissions. If you closed around 90% of the universities in the UK and used the land for building eco homes you would cut carbon emissions. However most people in the UK would not want their child to miss out on going to university which shows that the vast majority of the population are not interested in making any personal changes to their lifestyles to combat carbon emissions or pollution.

I don't think that Extinction Rubbish Idiots have called for a ban on taking children to school in cars or for the closure of 80% of universities and a move to distance learning or a ban on the import of almond milk and most importantly told their members to stop using mobile phones. https://www.wired.co.uk/article/lithium-batteries-environment-impact So I personally don't think they are interested in climate change either which makes me ask why are they blocking roads at all?

Anyone who buys a new mobile phone is also not interested in climate change. People who buy new plastic battery operated toys for their children at Christmas or mobile phones as Christmas presents are not interested in climate change. People who fly on holiday are not interested. People who own plasma TVs are not interested. People who buy new cars on finance instead of using public transport are not interested.
Over 5 million new cars were registered in 2018 so that is 5 million people not interested in climate change or pollution reduction or carbon emissions.

Of the 3 people I know who are worried about climate change none of them have made any changes to their own lifestyles they just want everyone else to do it.

There is no point in worrying about any of this because most people are not interested in changing their lifestyles and no government is going to want to lose voters by introducing unpopular measures like closing 80% of universities and banning cars on the school run.

The only singer I can see mentioned (in an climate change way), is Ellie Goulding, actually a very well known singer, albeit not my cup of tea as it's not my genre (or age group come to think of it)

Climate change is concerning but the way this latest group have gone about things is not exactly the best way. However, there are a fair few younger members of society who may well listen to someone like Ellie (if she was indeed the singer you are talking about) and make changes in a less in your face, hold up your day, annoy everyone way.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

This is rather like the Sufragette movement. At the time, they caused a lot of disruption, and there was a very mixed response. Looking back, most people now would say that women having the vote is A Good Thing.

It takes a long time for people to change, but this doesn’t mean the change is a bad thing.
