There is a slim chance I've found "the one that'll have to do".

It's come onto the market today.

2 beds, bungalow, ~575 sq feet. My guesstimate is it's about 32' wide and 18' deep.

Odd/corner/triangular plot. No garage, likely not room ever for one. ORP frontage 1-2 that's passable.
    Bed 1 has en-suite. Bed 2 is not particularly a good size (9' 8" x 8' 7")

    Modernish, tidy/clean. £270k.

Awaiting agent call back re a viewing. Agent was making those agenty noises and saying ".... better view this quick, B.P. is a very popular area and they sell fast". No pressure there then!

    *sighs*.

On paper it's probably the 2nd closest/best fit in budget since I started looking 14 months ago.

EDIT: Agent phoned back, he can't get hold of her, so might be able to sort out a viewing for tomorrow.

I know where the house/road is, so I'll do a drive by today. It is quite close to the main bypass/dual carriageway, one of the main artery roads ... so it'd most likely have a constant rumble, but there's no junction at this point; the junction's 1 mile away.

How exciting... what about just going and knocking on the door, asking to look around, and if appropriate make an offer.... they may agree, and withdraw it from sale saving the estate agent fees.....

    or is that too naughty!!

Eldest has found a new job, different sector, more pay and qualifications in the offing.

He is mightily relieved after being made redundant earlier this month.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

You can't do that unless you've been working like a ninja already.

If I'd not been known to the agent and if I'd not asked for a viewing there'd be a slim chance of that working...

But I've been registered with the agent 9 months, viewed 2-3 already with them and asked for a viewing.

If/when a house sells that an agent has had on their books, they do spend £3 downloading the LR to see who bought it in case they can spot somebody off their list buying it "under the counter"... £3 to check is a small price to pay for the few they do "lose" -v- the £3k commission they'd be wanting to bill for.

Viewing: This afternoon I've got an appointment to view it.

I've 'researched' it and thought about it ... I can see no reason not to buy it today. I COULD sit and wait ..... believing/hoping "something better will turn up soon".... or I can buy this perfectly fine "nice little bungalow" and get on with my life.

I'm not in this to get a rock bottom price, or spot an investment opportunity .... so this will have to be "the one".

    Good evening!

I've been meaning to check everyone's ok in the middle of dealing with a number of personal and work issues over the last 6 months and just haven't got around to it. Ended up on MSE a few minutes ago when researching something and thought it'd be rude not to pop in.

A personal note - please make sure you have a Power of Attorney set up, as this on its own would have made one of the major problems much easier (not going into details here).

I hope you're feeling better soon Sue, I'm leaving EE when the contract expires in December as I've just about had enough of bad service.

Oh, and good luck Pastures! The perfect house will come up eventually, it's unfortunately just a case of patience!

The run up to dad's big operation last year scared them enough to get POA set up for both of them, so all sorted there thank goodness.

The more we prepare ourselves for the worst, the better it'll go.

And congrats to the eldest, by the way, for the good news on the job front!
